Barbra Streisand has recorded more than 60 albums, almost all with Columbia Records. Her early works in the 1960s (her debut The Barbra Streisand Album which won two Grammy Awards in 1963, followed by The Second Barbra Streisand Album, The Third Album, My Name Is Barbra, etc.) are considered classic renditions of theater and nightclub standards, including her version of Happy Days Are Here Again. Beginning with My Name Is Barbra, her albums were often medley-filled keepsakes of her television specials.
Starting in 1969, Streisand tackled contemporary songwriters; like many talented singers of the day, she found herself a fish out of water in attempts to tackle rock, but her vocal talents prevailed and she gained newfound success with the pop and ballad-oriented Richard Perry-produced album Stoney End in 1971. The title track, written by Laura Nyro, was a big hit for Streisand.
Streisand's 1980 album, Guilty featured the songwriting, production and vocal talents of Barry Gibb and was the best-selling album of her recording career. During the 1970s, she was also highly prominent in the pop charts, with number-one records like The Way We Were, Evergreen, No More Tears (Enough Is Enough) (her duet with Donna Summer), and Woman In Love; some of these came from soundtracks of her films. She recently took part in supporting Haiti in singing "We are the World 25th anniversary.
When the 1970s ended, Streisand was named the most successful female singer in the U.S. - only Elvis Presley and The Beatles having sold more albums. [1]
[1] In 1982, New York Times music critic Stephen Holden wrote that Streisand was "the most influential mainstream American pop singer since Frank Sinatra."
I Can See It
Barbra Streisand Lyrics

I hear the echo of your voice
And though it's only in my mind
It stays with me, I have no choice
I reached for you as if you're here
Your tender touch, your warm embrace
And though it's been so many years
We're all just prisoners of time
The days go rushing by
With memories we've locked away
There may not been much I regret
But there were things we couldn't say
Maybe the ending came too soon
You are the one I can't replace
And though it's been so many years
I still can see your face
Somehow we knew another love would find us
We'd carry on, leave yesterday behind us
Sometimes I find, the quiet nights
I close my eyes and realize
I've never loved too far
And if by chance we meet again
We meet again
A sudden crazy twist of fate
A street where we have never been
And with the hour getting late
You're running to my open arms
Like all the years have been erased
In every shadow of the past
I still can see your face
In every shadow of the past
I still can still your face
I still can see your face
I still can see your face
In "I Can See It," Barbra Streisand sings about holding onto memories of a lost love. The opening lines set the tone of the song: "At least one moment everyday, I hear the echo of your voice." Even though the love exists only in her mind, she cannot help holding onto the memory. She reaches for the other person as if they were there, for the comfort of past memories.
But as the song progresses, she acknowledges that time moves forward for everyone, and memories become locked away. She acknowledges that there were things left unsaid and that perhaps the ending came too soon. The lyrics hint that the relationship ended not because they fell out of love, but for reasons outside of their control.
Despite acknowledging the limitations of the past, Streisand croons about the hope of a second chance. The song ends with the lines "And if by chance we meet again, we meet again / A sudden crazy twist of fate." She imagines they will come together again in a moment when the past is erased, perhaps in a "street where we have never been."
Overall, "I Can See It" is a song about longing for a lost love and the hope that it may one day, against all odds, be rekindled.

Somehow we knew another love would find us
We both knew we'd fall in love with someone else
We'd carry on, leave yesterday behind us
We'd go on with our lives and forget the past
Sometimes I find, the quiet nights
Sometimes, during quiet nights
I close my eyes and realize
I shut my eyes and understand
I've never loved too far
I've never loved someone as much as I've loved you
And if by chance we meet again
If we have the luck to meet again
We meet again
If we cross paths again
A sudden crazy twist of fate
A strange and unexpected turn of events
A street where we have never been
A road where we have never walked before
And with the hour getting late
As time passes by
You're running to my open arms
You're coming towards me, into my embrace
Like all the years have been erased
As if all the years that have passed never happened
In every shadow of the past
In every memory of what has gone
I still can see your face
I still can remember every detail of your face
In every shadow of the past
In every memory of what has gone
I still can still your face
I still can remember every detail of your face
