Barbra Streisand has recorded more than 60 albums, almost all with Columbia Records. Her early works in the 1960s (her debut The Barbra Streisand Album which won two Grammy Awards in 1963, followed by The Second Barbra Streisand Album, The Third Album, My Name Is Barbra, etc.) are considered classic renditions of theater and nightclub standards, including her version of Happy Days Are Here Again. Beginning with My Name Is Barbra, her albums were often medley-filled keepsakes of her television specials.
Starting in 1969, Streisand tackled contemporary songwriters; like many talented singers of the day, she found herself a fish out of water in attempts to tackle rock, but her vocal talents prevailed and she gained newfound success with the pop and ballad-oriented Richard Perry-produced album Stoney End in 1971. The title track, written by Laura Nyro, was a big hit for Streisand.
Streisand's 1980 album, Guilty featured the songwriting, production and vocal talents of Barry Gibb and was the best-selling album of her recording career. During the 1970s, she was also highly prominent in the pop charts, with number-one records like The Way We Were, Evergreen, No More Tears (Enough Is Enough) (her duet with Donna Summer), and Woman In Love; some of these came from soundtracks of her films. She recently took part in supporting Haiti in singing "We are the World 25th anniversary.
When the 1970s ended, Streisand was named the most successful female singer in the U.S. - only Elvis Presley and The Beatles having sold more albums. [1]
[1] In 1982, New York Times music critic Stephen Holden wrote that Streisand was "the most influential mainstream American pop singer since Frank Sinatra."
Maybe
Barbra Streisand Lyrics

Maybe you wouldn't believe it
If only I change
You say I'm acting just like a kid
Well, maybe I'm doing
What I'm doing
'Cause I'd done what I did
Maybe, maybe...
Maybe I'm fooling myself
More than anyone can
Maybe I will find another man
But how can I enjoy his touch
Knowing that I love you so much
Baby... baby, oh, baby
I could learn to love your mother
And your mother's sister
And if she visited all the relatives
I swear I'd miss her
And everyday before you go to work
I'd stop and kiss her
Maybe, maybe, maybe
Things would be better
If only a letter would come
Happiness is easier for some
I promise I will try to please you
Can't you see how much I need you, baby...
Baby if you want to hurt me
Laugh at me but don't desert me, baby...
Baby if you don' t believe me
Laugh at me but please don't leave me
The lyrics of Barbra Streisand's song "Maybe" talks about a complicated love situation between two people. The first verse talks about how the person might not believe that the singer can change their ways. They accuse the singer of acting like a child. But the singer says that maybe they're doing what they did when they were younger because they don't know any better.
The second verse has the singer admitting that they might be fooling themselves and that they might find someone else. But, they can't enjoy someone else's touch because they love the person they're with so much. They confess that they could learn to love even the people in the person's family just to be with them. They promise to try and please them and admit that they need them badly. Even if the person wants to hurt or laugh at them, they would rather the person not leave them.
The chorus, which repeats the word "maybe", signifies the confusion and indecision in the singer's mind. The song highlights how complicated love can be and how it can bring out the best and worst in people.
