Barbra Streisand has recorded more than 60 albums, almost all with Columbia Records. Her early works in the 1960s (her debut The Barbra Streisand Album which won two Grammy Awards in 1963, followed by The Second Barbra Streisand Album, The Third Album, My Name Is Barbra, etc.) are considered classic renditions of theater and nightclub standards, including her version of Happy Days Are Here Again. Beginning with My Name Is Barbra, her albums were often medley-filled keepsakes of her television specials.
Starting in 1969, Streisand tackled contemporary songwriters; like many talented singers of the day, she found herself a fish out of water in attempts to tackle rock, but her vocal talents prevailed and she gained newfound success with the pop and ballad-oriented Richard Perry-produced album Stoney End in 1971. The title track, written by Laura Nyro, was a big hit for Streisand.
Streisand's 1980 album, Guilty featured the songwriting, production and vocal talents of Barry Gibb and was the best-selling album of her recording career. During the 1970s, she was also highly prominent in the pop charts, with number-one records like The Way We Were, Evergreen, No More Tears (Enough Is Enough) (her duet with Donna Summer), and Woman In Love; some of these came from soundtracks of her films. She recently took part in supporting Haiti in singing "We are the World 25th anniversary.
When the 1970s ended, Streisand was named the most successful female singer in the U.S. - only Elvis Presley and The Beatles having sold more albums. [1]
[1] In 1982, New York Times music critic Stephen Holden wrote that Streisand was "the most influential mainstream American pop singer since Frank Sinatra."
Verschwiegene Liebe
Barbra Streisand Lyrics

In den glanz hinein -
Wer mag sie erraten,
Wer holte sie ein?
Gedanken sich wiegen,
Die nacht ist verschwiegen,
Gedanken sind frei.
We an sie gedacht
Beim rauschen der haine,
Wenn niemand mehr wacht
Als die wolken, die fliegen -
Mein lieb is verschwiegen
Und schön wie die nacht.
The lyrics of Barbra Streisand's song Verschwiegene Liebe depict the impossibility of capturing the deep and hidden emotions of a secret love. The first stanza uses imagery of nature to express the elusive nature of such emotions, as they are compared to birds flying high over treetops and corn. The singer questions who can guess or understand these feelings, and admits that even their own thoughts and emotions are swaying and running free like the wind. The night is described as mute, perhaps emphasizing the loneliness and isolation that can come from loving in secret.
In the second stanza, the singer reveals that only one can guess their feelings - someone who has also thought of the person they love in quiet moments. This person is represented by the rustling of the grove, a subtle and natural symbol of presence. The idea that no one else is watching anymore adds to the sense of secrecy and intimacy. Even the clouds are aware of this love, flying by silently and witnessing it from afar. Ultimately, the singer describes their love as silent and fair, mirroring the beauty and mystery of the night.

Over treetops and corn
Beyond the fields and crops
And into the splendor,
And into the beauty
Who may guess them,
Who can understand them
Who may catch up with them?
Who can keep up with them
Thoughts sway,
Feelings fluctuate
The night is mute
The darkness is silent
Thoughts run free.
Emotions roam freely
Only one guesses,
Only one knows
One who has thought of her
Someone who has thought of their loved one
By the rustling of the grove,
Through the sound of the forest
When no one was watching any longer
When nobody was looking anymore
Except the clouds that flew by
Except for the passing clouds
My love is silent
My love is kept secret
And as fair as the night.
And as beautiful as the night.

「From German to English.」
Silent love
Across the treetops and the wheat fields into the light,
who could guess it , who could overtake it?
Thoughts gentry sway, Secret is the night, And thoughts are free.
If only someone would guess, who thought of her
In the whisper of the glade, when the world sleeps
Like the fleeting clouds, secret is my love. And as fair as the night.
Although I know that Fisher Deskau version is so excellent, My soul was captured deeply by Barbra Streisand who is singing this Silent love. That's just a rapture.
