BarlowGirl's Philosophy
The band has gained a following with their "Anti-Conformity" message of "Don't be conformed, be Transformed" from Romans 12:1-2. Besides believing in abstinence and modesty, the band has also taken a stand on not dating, but their main message remains that people should look to God for love and security, and he will bring everything else into our lives. Very simply, trust God. They encourage people to trust the unseen. Just because you can't see God doesn't mean He isn't there!
Self Titled Debut Album
BarlowGirl instantly hit the spotlight in 2004 with their acclaimed self-titled debut album, coupled with the success of its first single, Never Alone. The longest running No. 1 song in 2004 on R&R’s CHR and CRW Rock charts, Never Alone was named "Song of the Year" on each of these charts. The CD has sold over 250,000 units (as of April 2005) and featured the singles Never Alone and Mirror which both garnered much airplay on Christian radio stations. These number one songs earned the trio four 2005 GMA (Gospel Music Association) awards (formerly the Dove Award) award nominations, including the prestigious Best New Artist award, Best Rock Song and Rock Album. The trio was the best selling new Christian artist of 2004. BarlowGirl received a 2006 GMA award nomination for Rock/Contemporary Song of the Year for Mirror.
Another Journal Entry
Their second album, Another Journal Entry, was released on September 27, 2005. The first single from the album, Let Go, had already begun receiving airplay on Christian radio stations. Their next single from this album, I Need You to Love Me, has also received recent some airplay on some Christian radio stations after the album's debut. The album debuted at #3 on Soundscan's Christian album chart, and, as of Oct. 10, is at 85 on Billboards Top 200 Current Albums chart. The trio was nominated for three additional 2006 GMA (Gospel Music Association) awards: Group of the Year, Rock/Contemporary Album of the Year, and and Rock Recorded Song of the Year for Let Go.
On My Own

How did I manage to mess up one more time
This pattern seems to be, the story of my life
Should have learned this lesson by the thousandth time
Cause I promised myself I wouldn't fall,
But here I've fallen
And I guess I'm not as strong as I thought
Is cry to You
*Chorus*
Oh God, You have to save me
You're my last and only hope
All my right answers fail me
I can't seem to make it
On my own
I always thought that I would be strong enough, oh oh
What made all of them fall couldn't take me down
Yeah, did I think that I, was above it all
I have learned that pride comes before the fall
I can't promise myslef that I won't fall
'Cause here I've fallen
And I know I'm not as strong as I thought
All I can do
Is cry to You
*Chrorus*
On my own
yea yea yea yeah yeah
yea yea yea yea yea yea yeah
God, you have to save me
You're my last and only hope
All my right answers fail me
I can't seem to make it
On my own
On my own 3xs
yeah yeah yeah
The song "On My Own" by BarlowGirl is about the struggles of a person who has consistently failed in life and has come to the realization that they cannot do things alone. The singer can't believe that they have found themselves in the same situation once again, grappling with the same problems and facing the same challenges. They acknowledge that this is a recurring pattern in their life and wonder why they haven't learned from their past mistakes.
The singer seems to have a lot of confidence in themselves, believing that they are strong enough to handle whatever life throws at them. They are taken aback when they find out that they are not as strong as they thought they were. They realize they need to depend on something or someone to get through this period of their life.
At the end of the day, the singer cries out to God, asking for help in their current struggle. They realize that God is their last hope, and the only one who can rescue them from their messy situation. The song encourages listeners to trust in a higher power and not to put all their faith in themselves.
