Supernatural
Barns Courtney Lyrics

One last time
Let you back into my head
Yeah, black-black black and blue beat-up
High off everything you said
Oh, Chelsea morning with the devil in my eyes
Where it's not so bad
I can't be mad at white, white lies
If you want me, let me know
You flip me like a domino
Got your hands all over my body
But you're actin' like you don't want me
Yeah, if you want me, let me know
You're terrifin', beautiful
Like a thunderbolt through my body
It's enough to make me feel supernatural
Yeah, baby I feel supernatural

Oh, what a shame
Your spirit never left
Possessed me like a demon
Made the worship at your bed
Oh, yeah, I must be outta my mind
Any cause to watch you crash
Just one last line

If you want me, let me know
You flip me like a domino
Got your hands all over my body
But you're actin' like you don't want me
Yeah, if you want me let me know
You're terrifin', beautiful
Like a thunderbolt through my body
It's enough to make me feel supernatural

Supernatural, I feel untouchable
I'm unstoppable (yeah baby, I feel supernatural)
I'm supernatural, hey
Supernatural, I feel untouchable
I'm unstoppable (yeah baby, I feel supernatural)
I'm supernatural, hey

I do believe (I do believe)
That's the old me (that's the old me)
I'd never leave (I'm gonna be), yeah
I do believe (I do believe)
That's the old me (that's the old me)
I'd never leave (I'm gonna be), hey

Supernatural, I feel untouchable
I'm unstoppable (yeah baby I feel supernatural)
I'm supernatural, hey
Supernatural, I feel untouchable

I'm unstoppable
I'm supernatural

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Barns Courtney's song Supernatural describe the singer's complicated and destructive relationship with a lover. The song starts with the singer inviting this person back into his mind, despite being hurt in the past, and feeling beaten up and high off their words. He describes the person as having the devil in their eyes and being capable of telling "white lies" that he can't be mad at. The chorus suggests that the singer wants to be wanted by this person, even if they are not treating him well. He feels captivated by their touch and beauty, but also frustrated by their mixed signals, and can't help but feel supernatural around them.

The second verse continues with the theme of being trapped in a relationship with someone who possesses him like a demon. He admits that he must be out of his mind for putting up with it, but can't help being drawn to the person's destructive presence. In the chorus, the singer declares that he feels untouchable and unstoppable when he is with this person, but also acknowledges that this feeling might come from his old self, before he was hurt by them. The repetition of "supernatural" throughout the song implies that their relationship is otherworldly and dangerous, yet the singer can't help but feel drawn to it.

Overall, the song explores the paradoxical feeling of being both powerless and invincible in the face of a toxic relationship, and how it can make someone feel supernatural.

Watching Barns go slowly from alternative rock vibes in Attractions of youth, to a bit more pop focused in 404, to whatever the hell this is, has been a fun ride

@Jessica Hannah what a sweetie, ha ha. it's sad, but I guess it makes sense a manager has to keep him on track xD

aazhie

absolutely agree. "Whatever the HELL this is" sounds like a great title for one of his songs xD

It’s a mix between Alternative and Pop Rock. It’s an amazing whirlwind that I love.

Ah, what a ride. I saw him the first time at a small venue with a beat up guitar and no one else, just him. Stripped down to his boxer briefs lol. Blew me away then, and watching him grow has been something else. I had a bit of adjustment with some of the changes but I so admire and respect his songwriting, arrangements, vocals, and mostly his absolutely POWERFUL concerts. I've been to several shows now, whenever he's within range, and always introduce younger family members who become instant fans! "Wow, he's AMAZEBALLS! How come we've never heard of him?"

He's always been right there with his fans after the shows, whether it's hugs/autographs, or dinner/cocktails. We've invited him and he immediately shouted "HELL YEAH!" Unfortunately, tour manager pulled him from that one or whomever it was in charge of "get on the damned bus or get left behind".

@Liam McMillan that’s what a lot of people say when artists change. Give it a chance

Just saw this live recently! He puts on a truly fantastic show, probably the best concert I've ever been to.

Saw him in Music City a few years ago. Phenomenal show and he brings so much enthusiasm. His opening act, The Hunna, are still my favorite opening act I've ever seen.
