I use ChatGPT for my programming tasks, it is quite helpful, but it won't replace the brain. Excellent video as usual. Thanks.

@MathematicalToolbox

I hope not! Thank you as always for the nice words and your input, sir.

@TranquilSeaOfMath

I have this exact edition. I like it. I have used it as a reference in my high school mathematics classes. Mathematical terminology is still being written! We probably need multiple avenues to determine the definitions of mathematical terms.

@MathematicalToolbox

Awesome! Glad to hear from someone that's actually used it. Have you used any other books similar to this in your lectures?

@evionlast

I think AI could do a good job on assisting you in self study and to glance some simple examples but it still can't go in depth with technical terms, some times it will outright lie, I asked for some book References on a topic of Algebra (semirings) and it outright faked them.

@MathematicalToolbox

Yikes, lmao. I've had similar experiences as well. It seems it works much better when you know something about the subject. Otherwise, it can lead you astray, or lie as you say hahaha. Thank you for your input!

@economicist2011

Just starting the video, but I'm gonna chime in and see if the video agrees -- books are still useful because GPT-x.y will never be more than the most confidently BSing college sophomore any of us have ever met. Or maybe someday it will be like me and be like the slickest BSing economics grad school dropout you've ever met. I'm sure that GPT will agree with the reference works enough of the time, but that one time it BSes you into a corner will more than make up for the time savings in the long run.

TLDR: Go ahead and talk to GPT about math. Just keep your nose clean so you can smell what's up, and consult real references if you get the impression GPT has been slumming it in the sewage gutters.

@MathematicalToolbox

Yes! Definitely some great advice. It seems like it really works well if you know something about the subject and not so much if you don't. Thank you for the comment!
