Bostwick has appeared in many movies and recently played the Mayor of New York City in the sitcom Spin City, however he is probably best known for playing Brad in The Rocky Horror Picture Show, and as George Washington in the epic films based on the biography by James Thomas Flexner, George Washington and its sequel, The Forging of a Nation.

He is also a veteran of musical theatre. In 1972, Bostwick originated the role of Danny Zuko in the original Broadway production of Grease. The role earned Bostwick a Tony Award nomination. Bostwick's other theatre roles include portraying bandit Jamie Lockhart in the 1977 Broadway musical The Robber Bridegroom. For this role, Bostwick earned his Tony Award. In 1990, another Broadway musical, Nick and Nora, in which Bostwick co-starred with Joanna Gleason, opened to poor reviews and closed after few performances.

I'm pretty sure Rocky cared about Frank, as he realizes over the course of the film that it's only thanks to Frank that he was born and like you said, he cries once he realizes Frank is dead. But I don't think he was attracted to him at least on a sexual level. Also in "Don't Dream It, Be It" if you notice Rocky, before taking Frank on his shoulders, goes to kiss Janet and not him. These creatures (can’t say their humans) are supposed to be from a planet filled nothing but sexual weirdos, but Frank is them on steroids. Riff Raff and Magenta shit is reciprocated and consensual with no deception. Frankie on the other hand not only use people and discards them, now he’s chopping people’s brains to build sex toys. If you left him to his own devises he’ll eventually get bored with Rocky, dump him, and find another person who he sort of likes their personality and chop up half of their brain to build yet another “perfect” sex toy. Frank simply doesn’t see the value of others besides as seeing them as tools meant to satisfy his sexual craving (just look at the floor show where he is controlling these people’s movements for his sexual fantasy show), put that alongside that he’s acting out on his dark, selfish, depraved belief and you can see why Riff Raff called his lifestyle extreme. They filmed in a rundown old castle and the budget didn't allow for glitz. Which is why I think it worked so well. You could feel that old, musty vibe and the deteriorating castle felt like it mirrored the relationship between Riff Raff and Magenta to Frank. That's why the 2016 one didn't work as well. It was too campy. This one had sadness and desperation dripping off it and it felt like they were outsiders and didn't belong which is why I think it became such a hit within the fringe of society. My favourite always and forever. Richard O'Brien wrote a musical masterpiece. Genius.

The thing I love about Rocky Horror and Richard O'Brien movies in general is that the themes/topics are in actuality very depressing, controversial and dark, even showing in the lyrics/script, but masking it with happy go-lucky music, tricking and distracting the audience essentially. So, this came out in the seventies. I think Brad and Janet represent society, and Frank n' Furter represents the new age of music and ideas. At first Brad and Janet are dumbfounded and reject his ideas, but eventually Janet comes to accept them while Brad still resists, although he does give in to some of it. He enjoys it but doesn't understand it. K spoiler alert. When Frank n' Furter kills Eddie, it's like the seventies killed the old version of rock and roll and society's standards and introduced something totally new. It's great at first and no one seems to be too upset that Eddie died except Columbia who dated him. However at the end you see everything come crashing down, sending the message that the sex drugs and rock n' roll idea that was so prominent during this time wasn't all that great and was essentially an unsustainable lifestyle. Eventually this lifestyle (Frank n' Furter) dies, and goes out kicking and screaming. People used to say rock would never die and were so instant that this was the best time ever, but I think it brought on a lot of consequences. Please add to this if you have more ideas!

I also think Frank represents freedom in some way and Brad and Janer represents bigotry at the beginning of the film.
(Spoiler alert) For example, when Frank slaps Janet and then warns her, I've always seen freedom kick ass bigotry.
Which is true, Brad and Janet at the beginning of the film were bigoted, I mean Brad imposed himself on Janet to follow the "ideal" image of a brave and dominant man, when he is probably even more fragile than Janet herself, you can see it at the at the end. I really think that If Riff Raff and Magenta had spared Frank there would probably have been 3 people to follow him: Columbia, Rocky and Janet. I don't know Brad. Like you said he likes Frank, but he doesn't understand him 100% yet

He’s gay, and he is being forced to realize that and he’s afraid. Brad probably had suspicions about his sexuality, and to compensate or water down this notion he behaves like a over the top heterosexual man with over the top heterosexual man’s voice that sound like it’s from a comic book (I know this movie is campy but his voice and behavior is too campy even by this movie standards) he uses throughout the movie. That’s why when in the floor show scene he talks normal, admit that he likes feels sexy in a corset and heels, and admit his fear of this. That’s his true self right there, but alas once Frankie’s spell wore off he goes back to his over the top macho man voice just to still find away to “fit in”.

Janet, on the other hand, isn’t going through what Brad is going through. Her sexuality and identity wasn’t being challenged, but instead she rebelled against conservatives view of women and how their sexuality should be like. She also achieved or reassured about her sex appeal (she most likely has insecurities in that department). So of course she happy, Frank N. Furter assisted her on sticking a middle at society’s standard on women’s sexuality while teaching her how to seduce someone successfully. Brad, on the other hand received confusion which leads to denial about his true sexuality.

I know someone who met him a year or two ago. He was so funny and charming, she didn’t even realize who she was talking to until shortly after. Maybe that was for the best, because if I realized I was talking to Tim Curry, I’d probably make no sense and just mumble around.

40 years ago,when I had the opportunity to listen to the soundtrack LP this was my favourite(and still is) piece of music....two years after I had the LP,it was 1978,I finally saw the movie in Trieste,at the cinema ALDEBARAN, I was stunned by the movie,it went far far above my expectations.....i will never forget that moment

In an interview, Meatloaf said in the live musical play he played Eddie and Dr. Scott. Imagine Meatloaf in the wheelchair in fishnet stockings and high heels 👠.
I know Meatloaf is in a better place and I hope his family and love ones have some great food and understaning people around them as they go through the 5 stages of grief.

Throughout this whole journey of Brad and Janet, Janet was the only one that found Frank's assistance a lot more helpful than Brad will. Despite her flaws, Janet at least had the courage to be more open about who she really is while Brad stayed in his cage of cluelessness.

I never looked closely and always thought Brad was reacting to the horror of Frank, but since you mentioned it I did notice Susan stumbled and Barry did kind of mouth "ouch!". I'd wager that Rocky not being as good in the routine was totally done on purpose and is simply part of the characterization. I doubt very much that it had anything to do with Peter Hinwood's abilities but rather a conscious decision on the director's behalf and perhaps even Hinwood himself to make Rocky's movements a lot more wooden & stiff (slight pun intended 😉). Like someone else here mentioned, he's only 7 hours old and is essentially a baby stuck in a man's ripped body. Makes perfect sense that he wouldn't be able to dance as well as everyone else on that stage.

I first say this in 2014, and honestly, the first time I watched this movie, I had to go through therapy. The reason why is because the first time I watched this movie, I legitimately considered it as the most fuck up movie ever made.

Afterward, I don't consider this movie for the sex, I consider this movie as a musical score masterpiece and theatrical purge. It's a theatrical purge because you can say whatever you want during the movie and you can't get in trouble for it.

Fun fact! Thr girl that played Columbia, her costume kept slipping off showing her breasts. She didn't care and kept going with the song and told the film makers to keep it in due to it being her best take.
