In 1978, five of his albums were on the best-selling charts simultaneously, a feat equaled only by Frank Sinatra, Michael Jackson, Bruce Springsteen and Johnny Mathis. He has recorded a string of Billboard hit singles and multi-platinum albums that have resulted in his being named Radio & Records number one Adult Contemporary artist and winning three straight American Music Awards for Favorite Pop/Rock Male Artist. Several well-known entertainers have given Manilow their "stamp of approval," including Sinatra, who was quoted in the 1970s regarding Manilow, "He's next." In 1988, Bob Dylan stopped Manilow at a party, hugged him and said, "Don't stop what you're doing, man. We're all inspired by you."
As well as producing and arranging albums for other artists, such as Bette Midler and Dionne Warwick, Manilow has written songs for musicals, films, and commercials. From February 2005 to December 30, 2009, he was the headliner at the Las Vegas Hilton, performing hundreds of shows before ending relationship with the hotel. From March 2010, he has headlined at the Paris Hotel in Las Vegas. He has sold more than 80 million records worldwide
Could It Be Magic

Whirling like a cyclone in my mind
Sweet Melissa, angel of my lifetime
Answer to all answers I can find
Baby, I love you, come, come
Come into my arms
Let me know the wonder of all of you
And, baby, I want you, now, now
Now and hold on fast
Could this be the magic at last?
Lady take me
High upon a hillside
High up where the stallion meets the sun
I could love you
Build my world around you
Never leave you 'til my life is done
Baby I love you come, come
Come into my arms
Let me know the wonder of all of you
And baby I want you
Now, now, oh now, oh now and hold on fast
Could this be the magic at last?
Could it be magic?
Come, come on, come on
Come oh come into my arms
Oh, let me know the wonder of all of you, all of you
Baby I want you
Now, now, oh now, oh now and hold on fast
Could this be the magic at last?
Could it be magic?
Oh come on, come on, come, oh come, oh come into my arms
Oh let me know the wonder of all of you
Baby I want you
Now, now, oh now, oh now and hold on fast
Could this be the magic at last?
Could it be magic?
Oh come on, come on, come, oh come into my arms
Oh, let me know the wonder of all of you, all of you
Baby I want you
Now, now, oh now, now, oh now and hold on fast
Oh could this be the magic?
(Could it be magic?)
(Baby I want you)
(Could it be magic?)
The lyrics to Barry Manilow's song "Could It Be Magic" depict a strong, intense, and exhilarating love that the singer is experiencing. The singer is moved to a whirlwind of emotions every time they are near their significant other, a woman called Melissa who is the "angel of [their] lifetime," and they see her as the answer to all the questions they have. The singer asks Melissa to come into their arms and let them know the wonder of all of her. They want to hold on to this love and wonder if this could be magic at last.
In the second half of the song, the singer addresses a lady and talks about going high up on a hillside where the stallion meets the sun. They want to build their world around this lady and never leave her until their life is done. The song ends with the singer asking if this could be the magic they were looking for all along.
Overall, the song is about falling in love and experiencing intense emotions that could be described as magical. The singer is willing to hold on to this feeling and build their life around it.
