In 1978, five of his albums were on the best-selling charts simultaneously, a feat equaled only by Frank Sinatra, Michael Jackson, Bruce Springsteen and Johnny Mathis. He has recorded a string of Billboard hit singles and multi-platinum albums that have resulted in his being named Radio & Records number one Adult Contemporary artist and winning three straight American Music Awards for Favorite Pop/Rock Male Artist. Several well-known entertainers have given Manilow their "stamp of approval," including Sinatra, who was quoted in the 1970s regarding Manilow, "He's next." In 1988, Bob Dylan stopped Manilow at a party, hugged him and said, "Don't stop what you're doing, man. We're all inspired by you."
As well as producing and arranging albums for other artists, such as Bette Midler and Dionne Warwick, Manilow has written songs for musicals, films, and commercials. From February 2005 to December 30, 2009, he was the headliner at the Las Vegas Hilton, performing hundreds of shows before ending relationship with the hotel. From March 2010, he has headlined at the Paris Hotel in Las Vegas. He has sold more than 80 million records worldwide
In this World
Barry Manilow Lyrics

How in the world?
Now that I've found you
You are my world
In these times that keep us guessing
You're my answer and my blessing
Pretty damn amazing, given
This peculiar world we live in
In this world
That's lost all its reason
At last there's a reason
For hope in my heart
In this world
Unsure of its future
So sure of you
I say, let the future start!
In this world
That's yearning for someone
To answer the call
From out of the blue
In this world
I prayed there would come one
Magnificent someone
Someone like you
Barry and group:
In this world
That's lost all its reason
At last there's a reason
For hope in our hearts
In this world unsure of its future
Somehow with you
I'm sure where the future starts
In this world
That's yearning for someone
To answer the call
From out of the blue
In this world
I prayed there would come one
Magnificent someone
Someone like you
The song 'In This World' by Barry Manilow talks about a deep longing for companionship in the midst of an uncertain and unpredictable world. The opening lines of the song, "How have I found you? How in the world? Now that I've found you, you are my world" express the surprise and joy of finding someone special in a complicated world. The lyrics go on to describe this person as an answer and a blessing, in a world that often leaves people with more questions than answers.
The chorus of the song expresses hope for the future, with the lyrics, "In this world that's lost all its reason, at last there's a reason for hope in my heart…in this world unsure of its future, so sure of you, I say let the future start!" It is clear that the singer finds comfort and stability in this person that he has found, and that they are the constant in a world that is often unpredictable.
The final verse of the song speaks to the universality of the desire for love and companionship, with the lyrics, "In this world that's yearning for someone to answer the call from out of the blue… I prayed there would come one magnificent someone, someone like you." The song seems to be a celebration not just of the love between two specific people, but of the idea of love and the joy that it can bring in a world that can often feel overwhelming.
