The lyrics to Basel Zayed's song Li Hadil El-Hamam describe a sense of detachment and solitude. The singer leaves their window open for the sound of the dove's cooing (Li Hadil El-Hamam), but also leaves their face on the edge of a well as if trying to escape reality. The image of the face dangling over the well is juxtaposed with the singer leaving words behind, as if they have abandoned the ability to communicate. The singer has left their dreams behind in the night covered in the wool waiting for the darkness.
The repetition of the phrase "Li Hadil El-Hamam" is a constant reminder of the outside world, but the singer is paradoxically withdrawn from it. It becomes clear that the singer's detachment extends to their surroundings as well. They leave the windows open and their face on the well, but ultimately they retreat into themselves, leaving behind their dreams and even their ability to speak. The song suggests a deep sense of isolation brought on by the singer's own intentional detachment.
