She's Mine
Basic Black Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Black Flag
Loose Nut
Now She's Black
She's black, everything I need, everything I have
She's black, everything I need, everything I have
She's black, my love is true, so true to you
She's black, everything I love, she's everything I have
* She's black
Everything I see
Take me back
She's black

She's black, I've been had, everything I hate
She's black, it's out of my hands, everything I hate
She's black, my love is true, my love so true to you
Now she's black every night and day, and I love you

Now she's black, your baby's been had
Now she's black, your boy's been had, Black!
Now she's black, your silly boy's been used up
Now your baby's all used up, little boy black

I'm black, let me in! I'm black
Black, dying at your door, take me back!
Black! Let me rot at your feet, let me in!
Black! Black! Black!

Overall Meaning

The song "She's Mine" by Basic Black has sparked several interpretations over the years because of its enigmatic lyrics. The track revolves around the word "black," and the singer's fascination with it. In the first verse, the singer claims that the girl is everything he needs and has, and that she is his love, and everything he loves. This makes it clear that the term "black" is metaphorical, and he is using it to describe the significant other. The color black is often associated with dominance, strength, confidence, and sophistication, which explains the singer's admiration for her.

However, the second verse takes a dark turn, and the singer claims that he has been had and that everything he hates is now out of his control. This sudden shift in the lyrics raises questions about the meaning of the word "black." It could be interpreted as a symbol of power or a metaphor for something sinister that has taken hold of the singer. The last verses of the song consist of the singer pleading to be accepted and admitted into the girl's life, even if it means dying at her feet.

In summary, "She's Mine" by Basic Black is a contemplation of the complexities of love and the power dynamics of a relationship. The singer's use of the word "black" to describe his lover is ambiguous and can be perceived in multiple ways, all indicating an authoritative or overwhelming presence. The song's lyrics create a sense of foreboding and uncertainty, leaving the listener to question the singer's intentions and motivations.

I swear the lead singer of this group sounds so much like Aaron Hall from the 80s group Guy…they could b voice twins.❤❤❤

Finally found it!! I could not figure out the name after I heard it on the radio last week!
This sounds like it could have belonged on Guy's album!

Early New Jack Swing is the best! I can see how Michael Jackson hired Teddy Reilly for Dangerous to give him that new, thumping street sound. The drum machine beat is timeless! Bruno Mars with Finesse in 2018 reminds me so much of this early drum beat. Bel Biv Devoe, Johnny Gill, Keith Sweat,Bobby Brown, G.U.Y, Janet Jackson and many more have laid the foundation for this genre. ♥

I remember ,most people thought this was Guy

@CurtisWhitehead-wn5bs

Gene Griffin basically produced both groups. Even though the New Jack style was birthed by Teddy Riley.
