Left For Dead
Bass Drum of Death Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Bad mix and I have to make a cutout
Did girls never liked it get the blur out
Straight pins can't assist the shit, burn out
Moved up, but I ended up kicked out

And I'm gone, left for dead
Spend my time away
Left for dead
When I'm coming down

Clock ticks and I'm sitting here waiting
Got a miss but I'm never gonna turn her around
My heart says that it's time to get jaded
The sound of mine's got a luck
Should be a deadeye down

And I'm gone, left for dead
Spend my time away
Left for dead
When I'm coming down
And I'm gone, left for dead
Spend my time away

Left for dead
When I'm coming down

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Bass Drum of Death’s Left For Dead are fairly symbolic and interpretive. However, I believe that the song is about a person who is going through some personal struggles. They are trying to let go of their past and move forward. But it seems like it's a challenging process as the person is stuck in this loop of self-doubt and uncertainty. The first few lines, "Bad mix and I have to make a cutout, Did girls never liked it get the blur out" portrays how the person feels like they don't fit in and want to change. However, they are finding it hard to make the change happen. The next line "Straight pins can't assist the shit, burn out, Moved up, but I ended up kicked out" can be interpreted as a metaphor for the person’s attempts to change being unsuccessful. They are trying to pin things together, but it's not working out.

Furthermore, the lyrics "Clock ticks and I'm sitting here waiting, Got a miss but I'm never gonna turn her around, My heart says that it's time to get jaded" suggest that the person is waiting for something to happen but they have missed the chance, and now it's too late. Despite their best efforts, they couldn't make a change, and now they feel regretful. The lines, "The sound of mine's got a luck Should be a dead eye down" indicate that the person feels like they are going through a rough patch and don't know what to do next. Overall, the song appears to be about the struggle of letting go of old habits and moving on with life, which can be a challenging process.

So, I might just be throwing this out there but I think the video is more than meets the eye.

Clearly, the video is about the male that appears in the video and the fact that he is a cheat/player who has injured these woman, on screen physically and metaphorically mentally. He constantly holds a gun to their heads and sometimes even shoots them, this is symbolising the fact that he has them tied up on him, they cannot 'get over' him in the sense that he is so attractive and alluring. If you're wondering why the girls aren't ripping him to shreds for playing them is because of course, the females go after eachother, fighting for the man. This is shown/ symbolised in the chess game where the women are battling eachother and again the man is holding his gun to them.

I think my analysis is justified during the end of the video when it shows the before and after of the 'accident' in which the man is driving along with the girl, she's smiling until he gropes her leg and then it shows her in the wheelchair in the end. And of course, the end scene is just the man, smiling with all the women who he has strung up.

Call it sexist but this shit is true. Most woman have been in this situation and maybe still are. Same with men.

BDOD are my favourite band and this song is the shit.

The end.
