For All We Know
Bassey shirley Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Love, look at the two of us
Strangers in many ways
We've got a lifetime to share
So much to say
And as we go
From day to day
I'll feel you close to me
But time alone will tell
Let's take a lifetime to say
"I knew you well"
For only time
Will tell us so
And love may grow
For all we know
Love, look at the two of us
Strangers in many ways
Let's take a lifetime to say
"I knew you well"
For only time
Will tell us so
And love may grow
For all we know

Strangers (strangers, strangers)
For all we know

Overall Meaning

The song "For All We Know" by Bassey Shirley is a poignant ballad about the uncertainty of love and how strangers can come together and form a lifelong bond. The lyrics suggest that two people can be very different from each other but that there is a possibility of a deep connection that may take time to grow. The opening lines, "Love, look at the two of us, strangers in many ways" paint a visual picture of two people who have just met and are feeling out their connection. The repetition of the word "strangers" throughout the song emphasizes the idea that love can bring people together from vastly different backgrounds, and that there is a beauty in learning about each other's differences and growing together.

The lyrics go on to suggest that there is much to learn about each other and that time is necessary to build the foundation for a lasting relationship. It is a call to patience and understanding, with the line "We've got a lifetime to share, so much to say." The song is a bittersweet reminder that love is often unpredictable and that we must be open to the journey that it may take us on, for better or for worse. The closing lines of the song, "For all we know, love may grow," suggest that despite the uncertainties of love, there is always hope for a lasting and meaningful connection.

My parents had this vinyl single when it was a hitbin the 60's and I used to ask them to put it on, close lounge curtains....they were my stage curtain😂 , and sing along to it. I'm still kind of a singer to this day 😊
