Basshunter Lyrics

This is not a habitude
This is an empty sound
But don't loose faith
This is not a habitude
This is an empty sound
If groove coverage is day, this is night
Here comes the pure evil
Yeah!
Here we go
Do you like it?
Get ready for more
Yeah!
In Basshunter's song The Beat, the lyrics seem to be a call to attention, a directive to stop talking and pay attention to the music. The opening line "Now shut up and listen" is a direct invitation to stop distracting oneself with other thoughts and focus on a kind of sound that is not familiar, that is "not a habit". Instead, it is described as "an empty sound", which could be interpreted in different ways. It may refer to a sound that is devoid of specific meaning or message, but at the same time, it may invite the listener to fill that empty sound with their own interpretation, emotions, and imagination.
The second part of the song seems to introduce the main focus, the "Beat". It is described as something that is not habitual, and maybe a kind of antithesis to "groove coverage". It is presented as "pure evil", which may suggest that the "Beat" is more intense and raw than the usual musical genres, and it may even have a certain transgressive quality to it. The repeated "Yeah!" and the question "Do you like it?" indicate that the song is trying to evoke a positive reaction, a sense of excitement and involvement from the listener. The final line "Get ready for more" suggests that Basshunter is promising more uncharted beats to come.
