Bastille debuted in June 2011 with their 7" single, "Flaws"/"Icarus" (released on Young & Lost Club). This was then followed by their EP 'Laura Palmer' later in 2011. There's no room for you here
There's no room for you here
Wrap your teeth around the pavement
'Cause your body's a message
Send my regards to hell
Fall upon your knees saying
Fall and begging, pleading
"You've got the power and control"
Don't pin it all on me
Don't pin it all on me
You've been granted three wishes
Say goodbye to your mother, your father, your son
I can hear your pulse racing from here
Sitting next to this gun beats your heart in your mouth
Fall upon your knees saying
"This is my body and soul here"
Fall and begging, pleading
"You've got the power and control"
Don't pin it all on me
Don't pin it all on me
Don't blame, blame, blame (I got you, I got you)
Oh blame, blame, blame (I got you, I got you)
Oh blame, blame, blame (I got you, I got you)
Oh blame, blame, blame (I got you, I got you)
Fall upon your knees saying
"This is my body and soul here"
Fall and begging, pleading
"You've got the power and control here"
This is my body, this is my soul
Fall upon your knees saying
"This is my body and soul"
Don't pin it all on me
Don't pin it all on me
The song "Blame" by Bastille/Musicfire.in is a haunting and powerful track that explores the themes of control, power, and guilt. The lyrics paint a vivid picture of someone who is at the mercy of another person, and who feels powerless to resist their influence. The lines "Wrap your teeth around the pavement / 'Cause your body's a message / Send my regards to hell" suggest that the person has been physically beaten or abused by their oppressor, and that they are resigned to their fate. The imagery of falling to one's knees and begging for mercy adds to the sense of desperation and helplessness.
The chorus of the song is a refrain of the word "blame", which is both a plea for understanding and a condemnation. On one hand, the singer is begging not to be blamed for their situation, which implies that they feel unfairly judged or punished. On the other hand, the repeated use of the word "blame" suggests that someone or something is at fault, and that there is a need to assign accountability. This tension between victimhood and responsibility is at the heart of the song, and makes for a complex and emotionally charged listening experience.
Overall, "Blame" is a poignant and affecting song that deals with difficult subject matter in a nuanced and sensitive way. Its powerful lyrics and haunting melody make it a standout track, and one that is sure to resonate with many listeners.
