Le premier opus, Batlik, sort en autoproduction en 2004, sur le mode associatif.
Batlik joue pendant un an dans les bars parisiens, puis sort son second album Assis là en 2005.
Le troisième album, Juste à côté, sort en 2006 et est distribué nationalement par Musicast.
En 2007, Batlik fonde avec son manager Gilles Gelly le label À brûle pourpoint, qui rachète les droits des albums précédents2.
Le quatrième album, Utilité, sort en 2007. Le batteur Sébastien Brun intègre la formation.

In "Assis là," Batlik describes two situations in which he is waiting for someone or something to happen. The first verse suggests he is reading a book outside in the sun and has been waiting there for a while, as he was sitting there the day before as well. Despite not feeling hungry, cold, or tired, he feels stuck and unable to move. He describes his nose as a big red pepper and emphasizes that there is no way he will be moving from that spot. However, he acknowledges that if someone were waiting for him, he would be willing to leave in an hour. Unfortunately, no one is waiting for him, and he will be waiting for a long time.
In the second verse, Batlik finds himself in a train station, waiting for his train to depart. He arrived early to avoid being late, and he slowly walks towards the boarding area. He carries a heavy bag that tears his right shoulder, and he limps along the platform. As he listens to a little voice inside him, he wishes that someone were accompanying him. He believes that if someone were there, he could assure them not to cry because he would return soon. However, he feels that no one can hear him, except maybe the train barman.
The song talks about the feeling of loneliness and the difficulty of waiting for something or someone entirely out of our hands. Batlik describes the desire to have someone else's presence and how it would make waiting easier. He recognizes that he cannot control other people's actions, and it leads him to feel powerless and stuck.
