Inter Course
Battalion of Saints Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Is lots of fun
But thereā²s nothing to do
The people come to see
The beaches and the palm trees
Runaways are out here too
They try and make it in the movies
But something isn't right
So they walk the streets late at night
Trying to make money so they can survive
Selling their bodies for a cheap price
Any old john will suffice
Intercourse is the only way
That some kids can stay alive
Their future isnā²t bright
Since a lot of them
End up being murdered
Their parents don't really care
They think that's what they deserve
The boys and girls that have died
No one knows who they really are
Thereā²s no star above their door
Just a small gravestone
The lyrics of Battalion of Saints's song Inter Course depicts the harsh realities of life on the streets for runaways and young people in California during summertime. The song talks about how the beaches and palm trees attract people to the city, but runaways and some young people are left with nothing to do. Instead, they roam the streets trying to make ends meet, hoping to make it big in the movies, but finding their dreams out of reach. They are left with no option but to sell their bodies for a cheap price to survive. The song also highlights the fact that for some kids, intercourse is the only way they can stay alive.
The song's lyrics are a commentary on the brutal realities of life for young runaways and prostitutes, who often face violence, exploitation, and death on the streets. Despite being a fast-paced punk rock song, Inter Course is a poignant reminder of the plight of young people who are forced to resort to prostitution to survive. The song also highlights how the society often fails these young people and their parents, who have all but given up on them. Overall, Inter Course is a powerful call to action to address the root causes of youth homelessness and exploitation.
