Battle of Britain Memorial was founded in April 2009 in Toulouse, France, by the will of three friends (Paul, guitars ; Ludo, voice ; and Vincent, drums) who simply wanted to play some music together.
They scored several songs but their true identity emerged when Rémi (bass) joined the band in October 2009. Led by mutual influences, from post-rock (Mogwai, Explosions in the Sky…) to screamo (Envy, Impure Wilhelmina…) and post-hardcore (Neurosis, Cult of Luna…), the band established a live set and did its first concert in May 2010. BOBM performed several gigs near Toulouse in 2010, with bands such as Time To Burn, Sélénites, When Icarus Falls or Robot Orchestra.
A debut album was recorded in summer 2010 by Jérémie Mazan (guitarist in Nephalokia) and was out on May 6th 2011. The Aftermath of Your Bright Beings is a concept-album about the decay of the human being through the eyes of a witness, doing an introspection about its own nature, until the irrevocable fall and the final destruction.

The one that you have created
No one can now escape the shredding
Please let me breathe with your lungs
For the very first time, hold your hands
Bodies will be bent before the shredding
Fear on the way, you smell the grievous scent, you feel the fear on the way
Harvest season to die and deadly visions to harvest, lo !
Here we’ll see the aftermath of all your ill-considered actions
We’ll be witnesses of the day all humanity has faltered
It will be a weather like you have all only dreamt about
Be connected till the end by the deepest part of your souls
Bear your whim, your blind dementia
Bear your whim, the fall is at hand
Now be ready, the sky is becoming red, the sea is becoming dry, the flesh is becoming frightened, lo !
Above your head, you see the white thunderstorm, far off the lighthouse is dead, the shredding will follow now, you feel it ?
And now you cry ? But why ? You had the ability to avoid this pathetic and tragic filthy ending
Now raise your head, the aftermath of your bright beings is before your eyes, hold hands ! This is the end, hold hands !
Do not flee! do not run! there’s no escape !
Do not cry ! raise your head! bear the fallout !
Do not look away and watch your child’s end !
Live your fall !
The song "The Fall" by Battle of Britain Memorial pays homage to the idea of an impending doom or consequence that people must face because of their actions. The lyrics suggest the inevitability of the "fall" and the urgency of taking responsibility for one's actions. In the first stanza, the singer addresses the listener, acknowledging that they have created the situation that will lead to the fall, and no one can avoid the consequences. The lyrics then go on to describe the fear and impending destruction that accompanies the fall.
The second stanza describes the aftermath of the fall and the impact it will have on all humanity. The imagery of weather and natural disasters adds to the apocalyptic feel of the song, accentuating the idea of a catastrophic event that will change everything. The lyrics suggest that everyone is connected and will share in the consequences of the fall. The third stanza addresses the listener more directly, urging them not to run or flee from the fall, but to bear it bravely and face the consequences of their actions.
Overall, the lyrics are a warning about the dangers of irresponsibility and the importance of taking responsibility for one's actions. The impending fall represents the inevitability of the consequences of our actions, and the song urges us to face these consequences bravely.
