She's So Lovely
Beach House Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

She's so lovely
Everything about her
Mannerisms of another

Castles in the sand
Money in your hand
And all I have to do
Is everything for you

From the way that her eyes are shaped
And it's making me sick

With her head on my shoulder
Waking up, baby just to believe

For her dinner
Baby pink lavender
Leather white umbrella sinner

She's so lovely
Everything about her
Mannerisms of another

She's so lovely
Everything about her
Mannerisms of another

Castles in the sand
Money in your hand

And all I have to do
Is stay away from you

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Beach House's "She's So Lovely" are filled with mysterious and cryptic imagery that requires some interpretation to understand. The song seems to be about a woman who is glamorous, wealthy, and commanding. The singer is struck by her beauty and style, but also aware that there's something sinister lurking beneath the surface.

The lyrics describe the woman as having "mannerisms of another," which raises the question of who she really is and what she's hiding behind her façade. Her power and wealth are represented by the "castles in the sand" and "money in your hand," but it's clear that the singer is wary of getting involved with her. He realizes that there's something off about her, signaled by the line "And it's making me sick."

Despite his misgivings, the singer is willing to do anything for the woman, even if it means sacrificing himself. He says "all I have to do is everything for you," implying that she expects him to be at her beck and call. The mention of "baby pink lavender" and "leather white umbrella sinner" suggests that the woman is both fashionable and ruthless, willing to use her beauty and style to get what she wants.

Why this song is very special to me:

So I was flying back to the U.S. from Costa Rica and our airline service had an option to listen to music. This trip had been my first trip outside the country and first time on a plane. I had worked hard to earn the money for my trip and couldn't believe I had gone to another country. I heard this song and relaxed. I closed my eyes and I could feel all the bittersweet feeling of finally getting to go home but leaving a short-lived dream. I had met amazing people and fell in love with traveling. I'm not one to listen to lyrics so I focused on the melody that somehow captured all of those feelings. I listen to the song now and I get to relive all those feelings of having just accomplished a big dream of mines. What I'm trying to say is that I'm thankful for this song. For being there to capture feelings through a melody that if it weren't there, I would have a hard time remembering. Thank you for being that memory box.

@sematalba

something really special about their melodies. They have a nursery rhythm quality which is both creepy and beautiful. By the way, initially wasn't sure of Depression Cherry and Thank Your Lucky Stars but after letting them link in now love them!

@VisheshOnyx

Finally i found someone who feels the same way about this music as i do !

I love all of Beach House's songs. That sweet melancholy and that relaxing tempo makes it better.

When I listen to them, I calm down a lot and I cope better with my anxiety and my mental instability.

Thankyou very much, BH
