In 1999 Beate was asked by Bugge Wesseltoft to make a record for Jazzland rec. He gave her freedom to make the record she wanted. Beate meant that the best way to really make a record of her own was to make it completely by herself - composing, arranging, text writing, programming, recording and producing. Since she had a studio at home, she would do as much as possible there, on her own Macintosh computer.
After a while Marius contributed more to the creation of the record. Dividing up the labour, Marius took care of the groove elements and Beate was in charge of the melodies, harmonies and lyrics, with some exceptions both ways. Since the work was done in private surroundings, the record was entitled “Home”. Most of the recordings were done in Beate’s 6 meters flat in Oslo except for the strings, vibraphone and drums, which were done in Bugge’s room (Bugge Wesseltoft's studio).
Because of the co-operation between Beate and Marius, the project name “Beate S. Lech” was abandoned and “Beady Belle” was created. Beady Belle worked solidly on this record for one and a half years.
Wounded pride

And your dignity
Your good name will decline
Incredibility
What I need is revenge
For the wounds you made
This is our delay defense
Who is the victim
Who is a friend
Who is taken prisoner
Who built the fence
I kling to my self-esteem
And will not forgive
Now I know it's spiteful and grim
I pursue to the sea, so
Who is the victim
Who is a friend
Who is taken prisoner
Who built the fence
We've sacrificed everything
What we share is gone
We walk around suffering
All alone
Once it was you and me
We were so much in love
But because of our jealousy
We killed that dove
Now all that's left is our pride
Determined not to forgive
We stubbornly stick to our side
While we forget to live, so
We are the victims
All that's lost
All is ?
We lost our trust
Agony in me
Misery
The lyrics to Beady Belle's song "Wounded Pride" are about revenge and the desire to punish someone who has caused emotional pain. The singer vows to "kill" the other person's peace of mind, destroy their dignity, and ruin their reputation. This desire for revenge is driven by the wounds that the other person has caused, and the feeling of betrayal that the singer experiences. The chorus asks a series of questions, wondering who the victim is, who the friend is, who is taken prisoner, and who built the fence. The lines suggest a sense of confusion and ambiguity around the situation, as though the singer is struggling to make sense of it all.
The second verse continues the theme of pride and the refusal to forgive. The singer clings to their self-esteem and vows not to forgive the other person. They acknowledge that this pursuit of revenge is "spiteful and grim," but they remain determined to pursue it. The chorus repeats, emphasizing the sense of loss and suffering that both parties experience. The final lines suggest that the relationship is irreparably damaged, and that both people are now living in a state of misery.
Overall, the lyrics to "Wounded Pride" are a powerful exploration of the desire for revenge and the inability to forgive. The song suggests that revenge is a dangerous and ultimately self-destructive emotion, as it only leads to further pain and suffering. At the same time, the song offers a powerful critique of the people who cause emotional harm, suggesting that their actions have real and lasting consequences.
