Toast
Beans Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Started off in
you were smiling at me
you had that gleam in your eye
i didn't see you since latitude
but i want to spend some time with you

All i have on my mind, on my mind is you
zipping up my sleeping bag in the morning time
all i have on my mind, on my mind
is to find you weren't around

Well we were rushed off our feet
with no time to eat
just people bare who like to stare
i would run away, far away with you
but you have much better things to do

All i have on my mind, on my mind is you
zipping up my sleeping bag in the morning time

all i have on my mind, on my mind
is to find you weren't around

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Beans's song "Toast" seem to be about a past relationship or encounter that the singer is reminiscing about. The opening lines suggest that the two parties had a pleasant interaction at some point, as the other person was smiling and had a certain spark in their eye. The singer hadn't seen this person since a festival called Latitude, but wants to spend more time with them.

However, it seems that the relationship is not as straightforward as it appears, as the second verse alludes to the fact that the singer and the other person were busy and constantly on the go. They were "rushed off their feet" with no time to eat, and surrounded by people who "like to stare." Despite this, the singer would still run away with this person if given the chance.

The chorus repeats the line "all I have on my mind is you" and describes the moment of zipping up a sleeping bag in the morning, possibly suggesting a camping or outdoorsy type of setting. The final line seems somewhat melancholic, as the singer hopes to find that the other person is still around. Overall, the song seems to be about the desire for a deeper connection with someone in the midst of a chaotic environment.

It's actually pretty straightforward how to make beans on toast. The real mystery is how to eat them!

Iโ€™m a weird American that loves British style Heinz 57 beans. I think that putting them in a bowl and scooping them onto bread in mouthfuls is fire af personally

...with your mouth!

You must butter your toast. And the beans should be brought to the boil in a pan and then simmered for at least 10 minutes for that gooie thick well cooked cafe taste
