Bear McCreary Lyrics

With my three wishes clutched in her hand
The first that she be spared the pain
That comes from a dark and laughing rain
When she finds love may it always stay true
This I beg for the second wish I made too
But wish no more
To have her please just one day wake
To have her please just one day wake
The song "Gaeta's Lament" is a haunting and emotional piece that was composed by Bear McCreary, who is known for his work on various television shows such as "Battlestar Galactica". The lyrics of the song are written from the perspective of Felix Gaeta, a character from the show who is going through a difficult time. The first two lines of the song describe a woman who he cares deeply about and who is sleeping in his shirt. He also mentions that she is holding his three wishes in her hand. This highlights the importance of the woman to him and shows how much he wants her to be protected.
In the next few lines, Gaeta expresses his wishes for the woman. He asks that she be spared from any pain that may come from difficult situations, and that her love may always be true. He then says that he made a second wish, but he no longer wants to make any more wishes. He is willing to sacrifice his own life if it means that the woman will wake up and be alive for even just one more day. This intense desire to protect and care for the woman demonstrates the depth of Gaeta's feelings and makes for a poignant and moving piece of music.

I sang at my wife's bedside the night she passed from complications of cancer. Almost 2 years gone now and I still tear up when I hear this.

I think the most tragic part of Gaeta's character is that his heart was in the right place. He truly thought he was doing the right thing for the colonies, but he was manipulated and misled by people with bad intentions.

The road to hell is paved with good intentions. Poor guy learned that the hard way.

@@Radas1000 Man of principles? Did you forget about him having the quorum executed?
Although... I suppose if those were his principles all along then you are right.
I really do feel bad for Gaeta though; his reaction when he found out what Zarek did. BSG is some of the greatest TV ever produced hands down.
@erricred2
Rannoch I wish it wasn’t tainted by the old series. There’s such a stigma of nerdy sci fi surrounding it but it’s honestly just a beautiful drama on the human condition.

This song is a great example of how incredible Battlestar Galactica was. On what other shows do you see music like this?
Six years gone, and I still lament its passing...
@vlacocabios
+Stephanie L another great show with comparable music- Doctor Who. Murray Gold is excellent
