I thought I was a victim
At one point, I believed that life dealt me an unfair hand.

The people hated me
I was not well-liked by those around me.

I never had a homeland
I never felt at home or belonging to any one place.

I had no safety
I lived in fear of danger and harm, as I had no one to protect me.

One day I saw a beast coming
One day, something seemingly terrible was headed my way.

From across the sea
Whatever was headed my way was coming from a far-off place.

I never knew fear
Until that point, I had not experienced true terror.

Until he came for me
That changed when this danger was suddenly upon me.

I called out for a killer
In response, I sought someone or something that could stop this danger.

I looked for the knife
I searched for any means I could find to defend myself.

I drank from his river
Despite my efforts, I fell victim to this danger and was deeply affected by it.

It ruined my life
This terrible occurrence caused immense damage to my existence.

I saw him coming at me
I saw the danger returning, and I knew I was in trouble again.

So empty and so cold
This danger was emotionless and harsh, a force to be reckoned with.

I never knew emotion til he caught me in his fold
I was never able to experience emotions until facing such a danger, which then made me feel vulnerable.

Can you imagine living one more day
Is it possible to fathom the horror of dealing with this danger on a day-to-day basis?

With a beast right up in your face?
Imagine facing the danger that has caused so much harm and chaos, standing right in front of you.

Can you see me dying in this house, in any house
Can you picture me suffering and dying from this threat in any place I thought I could call home?

For a man in vain
All in the name of a cause that ultimately may have been meaningless or hopeless.

Blinded by the Hurricane
This threat caused me so much stress and panic that I lost sight of reason and rationality.

Broke out of the harness
Eventually, I was able to free myself from the chains that tied me down.

Let it go let it go
I had to let go of the trauma and stress that I had been carrying around for so long.

Stumble in the darkness
However, the transition to freedom was scary and difficult.

Turn out the light y'all
I had to shed light on my demons and try to overcome them once and for all.

Overcame the madness
Through perseverance and hard work, I was able to get past the point of chaos and terror.

Then take your pills
I had the help of medicine or therapy during the process of healing.

Finally you're righteous
Through this process, I was able to finally come to a place of moral goodness.

I love the beast y'all
Ironically, even though this threat caused so much harm to me, I was able to appreciate what it had given me -- a chance for growth and change.

I stopped being the victim
Through the journey of healing, I learned to take charge of my life rather than feel helpless and powerless.

But you weren't there to see
Unfortunately, the people around me may not have fully understood or appreciated the magnitude of what I went through.

I never felt better
In spite of the pain and trauma, I learned that true healing can bring true joy.

Until you crippled me
However, certain people or things can still trigger the pain, making it seem unbearable once more.

I felt like a refugee from the grave
I still felt the pain and the trauma that the threat had caused me.

I had to wear that shroud with no shame
I felt the need to be honest about my pain and suffering, wearing it like a badge rather than hiding it in shame.

Deceit and lies
In spite of my honesty and willingness to confront my pain, I was met with deceit and dishonesty.

With your crying game
Those around me tried to downplay or dismiss the real pain and trauma that I was feeling.

I never fell in love so deeply in vain
I had never before invested so much into a relationship or an endeavor, only to have it end in emptiness and loneliness.

Knife in my side
The pain that I felt was sharp and unbearable.

While I slowly died
As the pain persisted, I felt myself falling deeper and deeper into the abyss.

Defeat from the inside
This pain and trauma felt more like a self-inflicted wound rather than something caused by an outside force.

Now I scream 'til the end of the day
The pain and trauma persisted for so long that it seemed like it would go on forever.

Never again, Mr. Hurricane
I was determined to not let any danger or threat have that much control over me ever again.

Don't mess with the Beast Mr. Hurricane
To those who would try to bring that danger back into my life, beware.

You're not coming for peace, stop bringing the insane
For those who think that they can bring peace by bringing back that which caused me so much harm, they are only bringing further madness.
