Help!
Beatles(¼×¿Ç³æÀÖ¶Ó) Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Help, I need somebody,
Help, not just anybody,
Help, you know I need someone, help.

When I was younger, so much younger than today,
I never needed anybody's help in any way.
But now these days are gone, I'm not so self assured,
Now I find I've changed my mind and opened up the doors.

Help me if you can, I'm feeling down
And I do appreciate you being round.
Help me, get my feet back on the ground,
Won't you please, please help me.

And now my life has changed in oh so many ways,
My independence seems to vanish in the haze.
But every now and then I feel so insecure,
I know that I just need you like I've never done before.

Help me if you can, I'm feeling down
And I do appreciate you being round.
Help me, get my feet back on the ground,
Won't you please, please help me.

When I was younger, so much younger than today,
I never needed anybody's help in any way.
But now these daya are gone, I'm not so self assured,
Now I find I've changed my mind and opened up the doors.

Help me if you can, I'm feeling down
And I do appreciate you being round.

Help me, get my feet back on the ground,
Won't you please, please help me, help me, help me, oh

Overall Meaning

The song "Help" by the Beatles is a cry for help from someone who has always been self-assured and independent but has now realized that they can't do everything on their own. The lyrics express a vulnerable moment, a plea for someone to come to their aid during a time of need. The song was written by John Lennon and originally intended to be a slow ballad, but was later arranged as an upbeat rock song to fit the tone of the film of the same name.

The opening lines "Help, I need somebody, Help, not just anybody, Help, you know I need someone, help" set the tone for the rest of the song. The repetition of the word "help" emphasizes the desperation and urgency felt by the singer, and the lyrics that follow explain why they are in this state. The verses are interspersed with the chorus, which drives home the need for assistance.

The song is a reflection of the changes that come with growing up and realizing that we can't always do things on our own. It is a reminder that it is okay to ask for help and that we all need each other to navigate this complicated world. It is a universal sentiment that has resonated with people for over five decades.
