SUMMER
Beatsteaks Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
The lyrics to Beatsteaks's song "Summer" paint the portrait of a group of friends in a moment of summertime revelry. The first line, "We burned the summer down," sets the tone for the rest of the song. It speaks to the intensity of the group's experience together and the way that they are living completely in the moment, without regard for the consequences. The line "there's dust when we're around" emphasizes the chaos and energy of the group.
The second line, "it's done this afternoon," suggests that the moment is fleeting and that the group must savor it while they can. The line "we came right back from moon" is a bit more cryptic, but could be interpreted as the group returning back to reality after a period of temporary escape. The next few lines speak to the group's desire to party hard and make the most of the moment, without worrying about what has come before or what is to come after.

We lived the summer to its fullest and enjoyed it thoroughly.

Our presence creates a sense of excitement and action.
it's done this afternoon
The summer is officially over and it's time to move on to the next season.
we came right back from moon
We returned from a wild and exciting adventure or trip.
we paint the town red to see what we will get
We explore and have fun without worrying about the consequences or outcomes.
don't care about the past today we'll make it last
We live in the moment and focus on creating memorable experiences.
we came around breaking up the silence that we've found
We bring energy and excitement to a previously dull or quiet environment.
and I'm alive
I am experiencing life to the fullest and feeling truly alive.
there ain't no place to stay
We are constantly moving and seeking new experiences.
so watch our tailights fade
As we move on to new adventures, our presence slowly fades away.
the way it's said and done it leads to where I'm bound
Our actions and experiences lead us to the next chapter of our lives.
