The Mob Song
Beauty And The Beast [Broadway Cast] Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

The beast will make off with your children
He'll come after them in the night
We're not safe 'till his head is mounted on my wall
I say we kill the beast!

We're not safe until he's dead
He'll come stalking us at night
Set to sacrifice our children to his monstrous appetite
He'll wreak havoc on our village if we let him wander free

So it's time to take some action boys
It's time to fol-low-me

Through the mist, through the woods
Through the darkness and the shadows
It's a nightmare but it one exciting ride
Say a prayer, then we're there
At the drawbridge of a castle
And there's something truly terrible inside

It's a beast, he's got fangs razor sharp ones
Massive paws, killer claws for the feed
Hear him roar, see him foam
But we're not coming home
'Till he's dead, good and dead kill the beast

No, I won't let you do this

If you're not with us, you're against
Bring the old man

Get your hands off me

We can't have them running off to warn the creature

Let us out

We'll rid the village of this beast, who's with me

Get your torch, mount you horse

Through your courage to the stinking place

We're counting on your stud to lead the way
Through a mist to the wood, where we see a haunted castle
Something's lurking that you don't see every day
It's a beast, just as tall as a mountain,
We won't rest 'till he's good and deceased
Steady fourth, tally ho! Grab your sword, grab your bow
Let's get on and here we go

We'll lay siege to the castle, and bring back his head

We have to warn the beast this is all my fault
OH papa what are we going to do

Now, now
We'll think of something

We don't like what we don't
Understand and in fact it scares us
And this monster is mysterious at least
Bring your guns, bring your knives
Save children and and your wives
So save our village and our lives
Lets kill the beast

I knew it, I knew it was foolish to get our hopes up
Maybe it would have been better if she'd never come at all

Could it be
Is it she
Scara bleu! Invaders
Encroachers
And they 'ave the mirror
Warn the master If it's a fight they want
We'll be ready for them Who's with me! Arrgh

Take whatever booty you can find, but remember
The beast is mine

Find a place, stand aside, we go marching into battle
Unafraid of all the things you just decreed

Raise the ram, sing this song
Here we come at fifty strong
If fifty Frenchmen can be wrong
Let's kill the beast

Pardon me, Master
Leave me in peace
But sir! The castle is under attack

Kill the Beast
Kill the Beast

This isn't working
Oh Lumiere, we must do something
Wait, I know

Kill the Beast
Kill the Beast

What shall we do, Master
It doesn't matter now
Just let them come

Overall Meaning

The song "The Mob Song" from Disney's "Beauty and the Beast" is a pivotal moment in the film where the villagers form a mob to kill the beast. The lyrics describe the fear and hysteria that has taken hold of the village as they band together to defeat the perceived danger. The opening lines warn of the danger the beast poses, specifically that he will make off with the village's children. The villagers feel unsafe until the beast's head is mounted on the wall, so they call for his death. The lyrics go on to describe the physical attributes of the beast, including his razor-sharp fangs, massive paws, and killer claws. The villagers speak of sacrificing their children to the beast's monstrous appetite and the havoc he would wreak on the village if allowed to roam free. They then call for action and urge others to follow them. They chant "kill the beast" repeatedly, as they prepare to lay siege to the castle.

Belle: You want proof? She me the Beast! There is your proof!
LeFou: Well, it IS hard to argue with that.
Gaston: This is sorcery! Look at this beast. Look at his fangs! His claws!
Belle: No! Don't be afraid. He is gentle and kind.
Gaston: She is clearly under a spell. If I didn't know better, I'd say she even CARED for this monster.
Belle: The Beast would never hurt anyone.
Gaston: We can't have her running off to warn the Beast. Lock her up. That creature will curse us all if we don't stop him! Well, I say we KILL THE BEAST!

@tamira1060

Okay, I know people disagree but I think it's vry clear why gaston does all this:

1. We was the leader of the army years ago, thats also why all the villagers loved him (and because he is hot)
2. There wasn't a war in many years so he wanted some action, he says in the song 'It's a nightmare but it's one exiting ride' and he says 'Call it war, call it threat!' He thinks: finally a war again now I can do the only thing I'm good at
3. He is angry because why is the only girl that gives him "that sense of je ne sais quoi'" also the only girl that don't love him.
4. He's also angry at th beast because he locked Belle, his "future wife"
5. the whole village count on him to save the village because he is the big army leader and the people are affraid
6. He is a person who makes quick decisions, he goes on his instinct.
7. If you think of a beast, I'm sure you don't think he can be kind and honest. If you saw him, you would probably try to hurt or kill him or you run away.

I think 7 reasons is enough.
Btw, English is not my language so if it is't very good....

Okay, Luke really plays up the evil,in this. His voice isn't as deep, but this plays his manipulative side

@orbarel3435

Dejay Page his voice is perfect!!

@KatyaArifinisnotreal

Dejay Page Exactly what I was thinking! There's more malice in his voice than the original.

@rainstarflowerdroplets9624

Carla Rosado Rodriguez it's wonderful too just like the 1994

@Augiegrl12

@daniellejordan1906

"There's a beast running wild, there's no question. But I fear the wrong Monster's released..." I actually like this line...

@DarthWill3

I think it's "the real monster's released."

@shannondeyong4289

DarthWill3 No, Andres is right. It's "But I fear the wrong monster's released..."

It's chilling & on-point & I love it so much. It may be one of my favorite lyrics in the show. It's a small moment, but so dang good. I keep listening to this version of the song over & over. (And I adore the original movie soundtrack & the Broadway show is in my top 3-5 scores of all time.)

@nkirukaj2384

DarthWill3 no, they're right, it's "wrong" monster
