Overall Meaning

The song "Belle" in Beauty and the Beast the Broadway musical, introduces us to Belle and her town. The song starts with Belle singing about her town, describing it as a quiet village where everyone does the same thing every day. The villagers wake up every day, greet each other with "Bonjour," and go about their daily routines. Belle is seen as different because she does not fit in with the other villagers. She loves to read books and is not interested in gossiping or being part of the crowd. Belle is seen as "peculiar" by the villagers, who don't understand her.

As the song progresses, we see how Belle's relationship with the villagers goes. Many of the villagers such as Monsieur Jean, the baker, and the librarian are shown greeting her. Even though they have different interests and do not see the world in the same way, all of them respect and appreciate Belle.

The song also introduces us to another crucial character, Gaston. He is portrayed as a conceited and egotistical man who wants to marry Belle. He sings a whole solo about his infatuation with her, and how he is going to make her his wife. The song ends with Belle being recognized as a "funny girl," someone who is different from everyone else but still valuable and respected.

I'm in a high school performance of this play, and when the girl playing Belle is absent from practices, I get to sub in for her. Thing is, I'm a bass. So I sing in my deep, manly bass voice. XD

^ Abington. The show was two and a half weeks ago, and we did really, really well! ^.^  They didn't need me to stand in for Belle, though. So I settled for being the narrator.

@liamroberts2576

See I do the same thing but I can throw my voice from Belle 2 like Gaston tone lol so I sub 4 a lot of people
