Break My Heart Myself
Bebe Rexha feat. Travis Barker Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Hello, my name is Stevie
Actually, I'm lying, it's really Bebe
It's the meds, so they make me really sleepy
Klonopin, my friend, yeah, she numbs the feeling
My doctor upped my dosage
My mom felt bad, so she sent me roses
Without it, I feel really hopeless
And 5.7 of Americans know it

Whoa, I'm living and I'm dreaming
Trying to stay even, oh

No, I don't need your help
To make me sick, to make me ill
I don't need anybody else
'Cause I can break my heart myself
I don't need your help
Getting off of this carousel
I don't need anybody else
'Cause I can break my heart myself

Today went really well
I didn't wake up in a panic spell
It was fine, even though I fell
Deeper and deeper into manic hell

Whoa, I'm living and I'm dreaming
Trying to stay even, oh
Whoa, I'm draining for no reason
Apologize, no feelings, oh

No, I don't need your help
To make me sick, to make me ill
I don't need anybody else
'Cause I can break my heart myself
I don't need your help
Getting off of this carousel
I don't need anybody else
'Cause I can break my heart myself

Woo-hoo
Woo-hoo
Woo-hoo
'Cause I can break my heart myself

There's a jumper on
Hollywood and the 101
And I'm scared, I could be that one, but I'm not

Woo-hoo
Woo-hoo
Woo-hoo
'Cause I can break my heart myself

I don't need your help
To make me sick, to make me ill
I don't need anybody else
'Cause I can break my heart myself
I don't need your help
Getting off of this carousel

I don't need anybody else
'Cause I can break my heart myself

Overall Meaning

The song "Break My Heart Myself" by Bebe Rexha (feat. Travis Barker) is a candid and introspective portrayal of the challenges of mental health. The lyrics convey a sense of struggle, as the singer grapples with feelings of hopelessness, panic, and mania. She describes taking medication (Klonopin), which numbs her emotions and makes her feel sleepy. Yet, without it, she feels helpless and lost, making her fully reliant on the medicine. Moreover, she highlights the fact that mental health issues are not uncommon and that many people suffer in silence. The chorus emphasizes the singer's self-sufficiency and determination to overcome her struggles, as she declares that she can break her heart herself and doesn't need anyone's help to get off the carousel of mental health.

The song touches upon several themes surrounding mental health, such as the stigma surrounding medication, the struggle to maintain balance and stability, and the fear of losing control. The lyrics also highlight the complexity of mental health issues, as the singer experiences a range of emotions, from feeling okay to falling into a manic state.

Overall, "Break My Heart Myself" is a powerful and honest reflection on mental health and the personal struggles that often come with it.

Same here... Finally a decent domestic song and artist. It gives me some hope... as long as she doesn't go hip hop.

I'm so happy that K-Pop choreographers and idols recognize the potential of underrated songs, and will perform them just because they're great, not because they're famous.
Her whole album is so underrated. TXT recommended it but it didn't help much, maybe Midzy fandom will listen to her album after the amazing dance performance by Ryujin and Yeji.

edit: actually my bad the support from TXT Soobin helped Bebe Rexha and her album trending on Melon Realtime Search at the time. Many fans found out about her album this way so I was wrong to say it didn't help much.

Totally agree. Last year Bebe released Better Mistakes album and for me it's a MASTERPIECE, but not many people recognized it. It was a pity! I hope more people use her songs and SEE her. I love Bebe so much.
