Norman was originally involved in Young Life Ministries and gained a considerable fan base by performing at the summer camps there. This has drawn parallels to musician Matt Wertz and producer Ed Cash (Chris Tomlin, Amy Grant), both who gained fame through their involvement with Young Life. Upon releasing Big Blue Sky, his third album, Norman included a slip asking for donations to the organization. His song "Walk Down This Mountain" is about an experience at Young Life's Wilderness Ranch.
Norman released Between the Dreaming and the Coming True in September 2006. The tour in support of this album featured Christian music newcomers Aaron Shust and Brandon Heath. Norman is a graduate of Presbyterian College in Clinton, South Carolina. His song, "To Find My Way To You" was used on various promos for the CBS sitcom, The Class.
Bebo's single called "Britney" is written to Britney Spears, and is featured on Norman's ninth studio self-titled album. Recently (2007–2008) Bebo has appeared with several notable Christian artists on tour as they present Andrew Peterson's "Behold the Lamb" concerts during the Christmas season.
Bebo Norman's new album, "Ocean", released on September 28, 2010. It's a personal album, according to Norman, that covers the discovery of his true identity and the battle between fear and faith. The singer/songwriter told CBN.com that he hopes "Ocean" causes listeners to "look internally… at where they draw their own identity from. It’s worth wrestling with who we are, where we draw our value from, and where we draw our life from and .... refocusing on the source of whatever season of life we are in rather than focusing on the season itself."
Mary's Prayer

Hide Yourself in faithful dreams before You live Your life
And slip away to Heaven and rest in gentle peace
Never to awaken the Lord Your soul to keep
'Cause Your feet will walk on water
Your eyes will pierce the dark
And Your heart will save the souls of men
Sleep baby Jesus, for now Your time has come
To heal the wounded leper, to calm the raging storm
With perfect steps of perfect grace You leave behind Your fear
And walk along these dusty roads though Your fate is clear
'Cause Your feet walked on water
Your eyes pierced the dark
And Your heart will save the souls of men
Your hands will bear the scars
Sleep baby Jesus, my Father and my child
Beneath this broken cross of sin stained with men's denial
And though You now are breathless with thorns upon Your head
Your body has been broken so Your children can be fed
Cause Your feet have walked on water
Your eyes have pierced the dark
Your heart has saved the souls of men
But Your hands now bear the scars
And Your feet have walked on water
Your eyes have pierced the dark
And Your heart has saved the souls of men
Your hands now bear the scars
Bebo Norman's song "Mary's Prayer" is a poignant, contemplative reflection on the life and sacrifice of Jesus. The verses take the form of a lullaby, as Mary sings to her newborn child, urging him to rest and dream before embarking on the mission that will define his life. The lyrics are filled with heavy foreshadowing, as Mary speaks of Jesus' miraculous deeds, his saving grace, and his ultimate death.
Throughout the song, there is a sense of both love and sorrow, as Mary mourns the loss of her son even as she celebrates his purpose. The final verse, in particular, strikes a haunting note, as Mary addresses Jesus directly and acknowledges his ultimate sacrifice, his broken body and scarred hands. The song is a moving tribute to the power and meaning of the Christian story, expressed through the delicate imagery of a mother singing to her newborn son.
