I personally prefer Odelay over Guero but only by a small bit. They both have a majority of Beck’s best songs and the Dust Brother’s best production, but Odelay has a great attention grabbin aspect throughout the whole thing. Don’t get me wrong most of the songs on a Guero do also, it’s just that Broken Drum & Scarecrow have some aspects that aren’t the absolute greatest, stiill a great song on an amazing album tho

I remember finding this video sometime in 2009 or so. I was obsessed with Sony Qrios (the robot in the video ) and was trying to find everything I could on them. I also happened to discover Beck around this time.

Although, now that I’m older, I have to say, this plays like a hip hop tune, except it doesn’t really hold a melody. It has an empty hollow feel to it, and it’s highlighted by that single piano key each bar (“ding!”).

I was always confused as to why I almost liked this song but now I know why I almost hate it too.

@brsmith0898 There is a difference between a singer and a composer. Beck is an intermediate singer, but he's a great composer. And as a composer, indeed he's underrated. Also he's a great producer. Just listen to benediction by thurston moore. Beck produced that, and benediction is one of the best sounding songs I've ever heard.
