I'm So Glad
Beck Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I'm so glad, I am glad
I am glad, I am glad
I don't know what to do
Don't know what to do
Don't know what to do

I'm so glad, I am glad
I am glad, I am glad
I don't know what to do
Don't know what to do
Don't know what to do

I'm so glad, I am glad
I am glad, I am glad
Don't know what to do
Don't know what to do
I don't know what to do

I'm tired of moanin', tired of weepin'
Tired of moanin' for you
I'm so glad, I am glad
I am glad, I am glad

I'm so tired, I am tired
I am tired, I'm tired
Tired of weepin', tired of moanin'
Tired of moanin', tired of moanin' for you

I'm so glad, I am glad
I am glad, I am glad

I'm tired of moanin', tired of moanin'
Tired of moanin' for you

Overall Meaning

The song "I'm So Glad" by Beck is an ode to finally reaching a point of relief after going through a difficult time. The repetition of the lyrics "I am glad" and "Don't know what to do" emphasizes a state of confusion and uncertainty about where to go next. The singer is expressing their exhaustion from constantly feeling sad and longing for someone who is no longer in their life. However, the repetition of the phrase "I'm so glad" suggests that they have finally come to some sort of resolution and found a sense of relief from their pain.

While the song is relatively short, it encapsulates the emotional journey of moving on and finding peace after heartbreak. The verses about being tired of "moanin'" and "weepin'" over someone who is no longer there echoes the feelings of many who have experienced heartbreak. The repetition of the phrase "tired of moanin'" serves as a reminder that sometimes it takes time to move on from someone, and sometimes that process can be long and emotionally draining.

hey come on man, this is Beck! the guy that introduced folk and blues again to young gents like me. I don't care about grammies but what I DO care about is that Beck truly cares for his music and where it comes from: the blues.

TheBonusNoise

Beck lived in a shack for like 5 years in the early 90's. He's got quite the right to sing the blues.

mike loobert

i love skip james. beck knows about the good stuff.

9Salvio4

Such an amazing cover ....

waliddddd

he killed it.

Bryan Swagerty

Beck is not only a competent player but he grew up on country blues. Bonny Raitt probably would have done a good job but this is definitely more gritty and in the vein of Skip.

digtheblues777

Beck is a genius

rediryou

I love Skip James, to bad they cut off Beck to go to Skip because Beck was doing a great job. Anyone who knows the tradition of blues knows that bluesmen borrow licks off each other, cover, do there thing.

bigpapacoco

Yeah, the vocals lack soul, but I really like his interpretation of this. Its honest to who Beck is as an artist yet it still retains the spirit of the original. The guitar work is exceptional. The way he works James's licks and runs into his own style and voicings makes me jealous of his creative ability.

BluesTripleThreat

I never head of beck, I thought i would get to hear some of his stuff, but after this I don't think I can
