@tg72201 Assuming Diane has not ever seen her doublegänger it wouldn't make sense that they both just watch eachothers like no biggie.

I'm not suggesting that the meta read is the only read, but Twin Peaks is really meta. Especially The Return. There's so much evidence to point to this read that I'm almost certain that it's one aspect of the story.

Tremonds and Chalfonts are kind of metaphor for the magic of filmmaking and editing. I understand it in intuitive emotional level, but it's hard to get that out in written form.

The world Coop and Laura/Carrie are in kind of doesn't matter. They are out from the "dream of Twin Peaks" world, and that's all that matters. There are no other Twin Peaks characters there than Coop, and Coop is the audience so he has to be there.

I think two birds has to mean Judy and Laura. Because bird is a word for female and I don't think Lynch would use that word unless it's about the females. Laura is also the most important thing to Lynch, and so is keeping the mystery alive, which is one read of what Judy means.

I have been researching Kubrick for over a decade, and his films are incredibly complex multilayered pieces of art. And Lynch is the same, especially here with The Return.

The point about Lynch getting Laura's mystery at the forefront again, aka return the status quo that he wanted in the begin with, is important reason why he wanted to return to Twin Peaks. That's my opinion. But just like the point of Laura being murdered was just the starting point for Twin Peaks, here returning the mystery is just one point and it's everything else in the show that really matters.

@tg72201 I don't see it that way, as the other Diane has no doublegänger qualities and the fact that Diane doesn't react in any way doesn't point to doublegänger. I would much rather see her as tulpa, but even that doesn't make much sense. Unless they at this point know they are actors in a show called Twin Peaks, aka tulpas of sorts.

I think Judy means the chinese word "to explain" which is the enemy. The two birds at one stone is to bring back the mystery of Laura Palmer, as her mystery died because the killer had to be revealed, and to keep the whole Twin Peaks universe in permanent mystery.

Cooper knows he is a TV character that represents the audience. So does Mr.C and that's why he has the capability of doing whatever "movie magic" with all sorts of gadgets etc.

The plan was to undo the explanations for Twin Peaks, aka kill Judy, by going back and block Laura from ever dying. Episode 18 truly killed Judy, it killed all the explanations and made the whole universe one big mystery again.

While I absolutely hated episode 18 when it came, but now I must admit it's amazing. The sad thing is that Lynch achieved pretty much perfect ending for his career with The Return, and while I would pay insane sums to get him to continue the story, I sadly think this is it. And if this is it, what a wonderful masterpiece he ended his career!

I love this series. I think your take is better than the guy who did twin peaks explained. I like your take way more. Can't wait for the return.

your analysis is always so good, always tying the consistent themes and symbols together and clearly making your case for how they connect to societal factors. an absolute treat to get 2 FWWM vids this week, I'm excited for the rest of this series and especially when you get to the return! thanks

I must tell you that i am so impressed with this remarkable and deeply insightful analysis of the series & movie. Obviously you worked hard on this project. I hope that those within David Lynch's stratosphere take notice of your take and commend you. I honestly cannot wait to see how you make sense of THE RETURN as a cohesive narrative. Good luck =)

I appreciate your insights. I'm just getting into watching twin peaks. I've witnessed personally tragic stories similar to the tale. I think that many of lynches observations are intuitive. Like his observations on electricity and drugs.
