I was in my prime when the mid 70s and 80s came to life in 🎵 music. How could we have known that it was truly era 4:59 that was incomparable to any other! We enjoyed so much and just thought it would keep coming, but it didn't. It's amazing that 2 or 3 generations later, the young people agree. How many times did young and older share the same music? Years after disco died in the '80s, the Bee Gees were the least cool people on Earth. Ironically, that's when I discovered them in my dad's record collection. All my friends made fun of me for liking them, but I wasn't cool either, so I didn't care. But now I see that everyone has gotten over it. The Bee Gees made a lot of great music. Long after all the outdated fashions and music fad backlashes have faded away, that fact still remains.

But in the 80s there was lots of rock, easy listening and new wave, and then in the late 80s lots of new jack swing and rap. It was stylistically very different than disco.

It was in the middle part of 1968 when it became a hit in the Philippines. I was just 11 yrs old. Thank you Ashley. I play the piano by ear and was working out the chords to this tonight. After a couple hours I was playing it quite well and looked for a video with lyrics. Wow, the good old Bee Gees before they went disco. Moving ballads. This was my favorite as a teenager.

My dad used to sing this to my mum (one of their songs) when they were courting back in the 70s. He was a lot lot younger than mum and she had us 3 kids too. Run to me was another along with Suite: Judy Blue Eyes, CSNY. He has a beautiful voice and tho everyone gave their marriage 5 mins/6 months it is their 43rd Anniversary on 22nd Feb, confounding everyone. Obviously he is my stepdad but you can take the step away, he's dad. This song always takes me back to the mid 70s and the fabulous music we had to live our lives to.

I used to go to this low rent country bar back in the 70's that had a secondary bar in the back for the younger folks who liked some rock and roll. This song was always the last slow dance song of the night, and through the hazy sadness, lonely young people shared a momentary connection that transcended the empty shadows of their existence in other words it never failed to get me a ride home... bittersweet memories

Yes, Words is probably the Bee Gees best song they've done!!!! And it brings a lot of healing to me as well!!! I grew up where they're were six children - five boys and one girl. I'm the only guy left in my family, other than my sister. They've all passed away in the 90's - Just like Barry Gibb's brothers - Andy, Robin, and Maurice.. Words can be a double-edge sword!!!
