Don
Bee Gees Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Oh my heart won't believe that you have left me
I keep telling my self that it's true
I can get over anything you want my love
But I can't get myself over you

Don't forget to remember me
And the love that used to be
I still remember you
I love you
In my heart lies a memory to tell the stars above
Don't forget to remember me my love

On my wall lies a photograph of you girl
Though I try to forget you somehow
You're the mirror of my soul so take me out of my hole
Let me try to go on living right now

Don't forget to remember me
And the love that used to be
I still remember you
I love you

In my heart lies a memory to tell the stars above
Don't forget to remember me my love

Overall Meaning

The Bee Gees' song "Don't Forget To Remember" is a heart-wrenching tale of a man struggling to come to terms with a breakup. The opening lines alone are enough to make the listener feel the pain and heartbreak of the singer: "Oh my heart won't believe that you have left me/I keep telling myself that it's true." This sets the stage for the rest of the song, which is a plea to the singer's former love to remember him and the love they had shared.

Throughout the song, the singer tries to convince himself that he can move on, but he can't seem to shake off the memories of his former love. This is especially evident in the chorus: "Don't forget to remember me/And the love that used to be/I still remember you/I love you." These lines show that even though the singer is trying to move on, he still loves his former partner and wants to be remembered by them.

The song also has an interesting use of imagery, with lines like "You're the mirror of my soul" and "In my heart lies a memory to tell the stars above." These lines suggest that the singer's former love was a part of him, and that even though they are no longer together, their love and memories will always be with him.

In summary, "Don't Forget To Remember" is a touching and emotionally charged song that showcases the Bee Gees' ability to write powerful ballads.

It is 2024 now and I am 77 years old and this song by the BeeGees still gives me the goosebumps and still tugs my heart string with nostalgic memories when I first heard the song playing in the jukebox in one of our Suva City restaurants way back about 60 years ago in 1967.

@tomcat4765

Difficult to hear It in '67, it came from the Film and Album "Cucumber Castle" from 1970. Robin had left at this point and it was just Barry and Maurice. It was where Maurice met Lulu before he married her.

Hi Elizabeth

@voisine712

Our brother was the No 1 Bee Gees Fan. Sadly he gained his wings Feb. 16th, just 6 months after our Sister. This song was played at his funeral. I miss him so so much, just like our sister. I will never forget to remember. 💙❤️
