As a full band from 1989 to 1993, they released a large amount of demos, a demo compilation CD named "The Oath of Black Blood" in 1991, and the album "Drawing Down the Moon" in 1993, both of which are considered classics of the style. Laiho, the group's frontman, would continue the band as a solo project after "Drawing Down the Moon" and released an EP called "Messe Des Mortes" 1993, as well as two more albums under the band's name. These albums, H418ov21.C from 1994 and Electric Doom Synthesis from 1995, were dubbed "ritual ambient" by the band. Much like the metal recordings from the band, these electronic releases have a cult following. After these albums were released, Beherit effectively ceased to exist, although Laiho would release another album of electronic material under the name Suri Shamaani in 1999.
Original members Nuclear Holocausto and Sodomatic Slaughter reformed the band in 2008, now a four-piece featuring new members Ancient Corpse Desekrator and Abyss. With this new lineup the album Engram would be released in 2009, which is largely considered a return to form to the band's metal era. In 2011, a recording for what the band had planned to release as a debut in 1990 would be unearthed and released as "At the Devil's Studio 1990", and this would be followed up with the "Celebrate the Dead" EP in 2012.
In 2020, Beherit would return with a new album, Bardo Exist. This album was a radical departure from Engram's sound, having returned to an electronic sound much like the band had created as Laiho's solo vehicle in the mid-90s.

Johda sinä meitä
Etsiessämme
Viisauden teitä
Työtämme ohjaa
Meitä älä heitä
Musiikkimme siunaa;
Armossa Saatanan
Kristuksen lapset
Rakkauden tuomioon
Kristuksen valossa
Mut hämärässä eläen
Kadotuksen portilla
Nyt kerjää armoa!
Pimeyden henki
Johda sinä meitä
Tutkiessamme tietoisuuden teitä
Kaikessa näytät
Kadotuksen huorat
Mahtavan kiiman
Katoavaiset suojat
Armossa Beherit,
Arvossa Perkeleen,
Puhdistaa heidät
Verissä valuen
Kristuksen valossa
Mut varjossa eläen
Kadotuksen portill
NYT YLISTÄÄ SAATANAA!
The lyrics of Beherit's song "Pagan Moon" speak of a spiritual journey towards enlightenment, albeit a journey that is guided by darkness and led by the spirit of the night. The song is an ode to the power and wisdom of Satan, who helps the seekers of knowledge to find their way in the darkness, to uncover the hidden paths of consciousness, and to purify themselves in blood and fire. The lyrics contrast the followers of Christ, who live in the light of love and judgment, with those who dwell in the shadows and crave the pleasures of the flesh.
The song invokes the pagan deities that have been vilified by the Christian orthodoxy, and celebrates the primal instincts that have been suppressed by the social norms. The references to prostitutes, lustful desires, and ephemeral pleasures suggest a rejection of the puritanical values of the Christian morality, and a return to the primal, instinctual nature of humanity. The final verse is a defiant declaration of allegiance to Satan, and a rejection of the Christian faith and its values.

For those who are asking for lyrics, this is the best I've got from listening.. I'm sorry if it's different from what you've heard.
Beherit - Pagan Moon
Brings the shame
Make it right
In the love of demon
Transcend
Take me
Prisoner of evil
Live in there
Dance of death
In the chains of demon
Living in guilt
Charge me
In his name evil
Heaven's cold
Makes him a spirit
Waiting
To shut the door
All this spirits
Make a hole
Shut in keep in
For more
This is call
Sounds like an evil
This is sound of
maiden's mourn
Come to cauldron
Call her name
Go and come
back to me
Heaven, hell where you come
Ditched from us then you leave
Living forever dark
Satan make the living ghost
Brings the shame
Make it right
In the love of demon
Transcend
Take me
Prisoner of evil
Live in here
Dance of death
During pagan moon
Live and kill
Trust him
In the truth of evil
Heaven's cold
Makes him a spirit
Waiting
To shut the door
All this spirits
Make a hole
Shut in keep in
For more
This is call
Sounds like an evil
This is sound of
maiden's mourn
Come to cauldron
Call her name
Go and come
back to me
Heaven, hell where you go
Ditched from now then you die
Living forever dark
Satan make the living ghost
Heaven, hell where you go
Ditched from now then you die
Living forever dark
Satan make the living ghost
