La Llorona
Beirut/Realpeople Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Ever away from seeing more than life
The morning lies miles away from the night
No man ever could steal her heart
But With bright gold coins I'll take my shot

And all it takes to fall
If you don't walk, might as well crawl
All it takes to fall
What a quiet world after all

Of the things that you guessed will come
What a moment it was after all

Overall Meaning

In the song "La Llorona" by Beirut/Realpeople, the lyrics explore the themes of love, loss, and desperation. The first few lines speak to the idea of being unable to see beyond one's current situation. The morning, which represents hope and possibility, is seemingly far away from the night, which represents darkness and despair. The singer seems to be caught up in a cycle of sadness and is unable to move forward. The next line, "No man ever could steal her heart," suggests that the singer has experienced heartbreak in the past and is perhaps guarded against further pain. However, the following line, "But with bright gold coins I'll take my shot," reveals that the singer is willing to take a risk to win someone over.

The chorus of the song imparts a message of resilience and determination. "All it takes to fall" suggests that taking a risk is worth it, even if you fail. The line "If you don't walk, you might as well crawl" implies that it's better to try and fail than to not try at all. The second half of the chorus brings back the theme of darkness, with "What a quiet world after all." This could either represent a literal quietness after the singer's failed attempt at love or a metaphorical one, suggesting a sense of loneliness and isolation.

Its lost in a kiss, one truth. It ends with lies, regrets drown,
skin breaks and wings appear
It falls from the sky to the floor,
it becomes a root or paper figures.

Dont cry anymore, dont yell dont try to rememberdont cry anymore, dont yell dont try to think about what happened, its left in the past.

That what will be, a future that is no longer in your hands

What can you do now?

What you didnt do one day what you wont ever do.

@Lunibruniful
