In 1994 an American Gothic band located on Long Island/New York City area released a demo tape. Soon after some tracks were recorded for Cleopatra Records label compilations.

Some People
Bell Book & Candle Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
some people look down
some people just say good bye
when you're saying hello
some people they like you
some people they don't
some people they may believe in something
they don't even know
cry out, baby here I come
you'd better not let life get you down
you wanna hold on
wanna live it up
you wanna shine, bright as the sun
some people they hate you
some people they don't
some people they catch you out
when you're moving too slow
cry out, baby here I come
you'd better keep showing a smile
it is an easy way to get it right
if you are keep walking your line
bababa ... and your word means the world
some people they say ya
some people say no
some people they just don't know the difference
between life and show
cry out ...
bababa ...
The song "Some People" by Bell Book & Candle talks about the different perceptions people have of each other. Some people may like you, while others may not. Some people may believe in something they don't even know, and some may catch you out when you're moving too slow. The song goes on to encourage the listener to keep going and not to let life get them down. The lyrics emphasize the importance of holding on, living it up, and shining bright as the sun. The chorus encourages the listener to cry out, and come forward, and to keep showing a smile, and keep walking their line.
In essence, the song has an underlying message that one needs to keep going despite opposition, to keep walking their line and to keep working towards their goals. It reminds people that there will always be those who like them, and equally, those who do not. The song encourages listeners not to give up, to stay strong, and to live in such a way that their word means the world.
