Echoes
Bella Morte Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Through the air so filled with ashes
And the doors are splintered remnants
Of a time that soon will fall
Here I lie amongst the ruins
Watching now a lifetime buried
Who will care that footsteps fell here?
Who will haunt the emptied halls?
Never cast your eyes away
Peer into the sky and follow
Never cast your eyes away
Whisper to the sky one final prayer
And another stone comes crashing
To the floor of scattered glass
As a blade shines red with anger
Through the sinking hope tonight
With a flag held close against me
Her glory rests its weary head
Soft upon my tired shoulder
Dreaming lore of brighter days
Hold close to me and find your sleep
Time it moved so slowly
As if there were no end
Hold close to me in final sleep
Time will move so slowly
As if there were no end
Your name will echo still
The song "Echoes" by Bella Morte is a melancholic and haunting piece that speaks of the destruction that has befallen a place once vibrant and full of life. The lyrics refer to the aftermath of a storm, which has left the air thick with ashes and the doors of the buildings splintered and broken. The singer lies among the ruins, watching as a lifetime's worth of memories are buried beneath debris. The question is raised, who will remember the footsteps that once fell in these halls and who will haunt them now that they are emptied?
As the song progresses, another stone comes crashing down, adding to the destruction that has already occurred. The blade that shines red with anger is a poignant symbol of the violence that has taken place. Despite the devastation, the singer holds onto their flag, a symbol of hope and pride. It seems that they are determined to keep the spirit of the place alive, even though it has faded so much. The song ends on a note of finality, with the singer telling someone to hold close and find their sleep. The passage of time is spoken of as something eternal, with no end in sight. Yet the name of the place will echo still, even though there is no one left to remember it.
Overall, "Echoes" is a song that speaks of loss and remembrance. It paints a vivid picture of a place that has been destroyed, and asks who will remember it now that it is gone. The melancholic tone of the song is further reinforced by the use of instruments such as the piano and the acoustic guitar, which create a mournful and haunting atmosphere.
