In the song "Save Us," Bellarive calls upon God to hear their cries and save them. The opening lines question their worthiness to call upon the ruler of the seas. However, they recognize the God they serve as one who listens to even the least of them. The lyrics paint a picture of despair, with a metaphor of the dead lights choking on dust. They acknowledge their sin and how it seeks to kill them, but still call out to God to save them with His depth of grace. Bellarive recognizes that God fights for His children and even ransom His daughters. Finally, they declare their trust in God's glory and believe that He will come to save them.
The song "Save Us" was released in 2014 as part of Bellarive's album "Before There Was." The album was the band's second studio album and served as the follow-up to their debut album, "The Heartbeat." The album was produced by Joshua Silverberg, who has worked with Christian artists such as Michael W. Smith and Jesus Culture.
