Every Word
Belly Lyrics

Gave her water, just got paler
Grass stains, back burns
She's a screamer
She's just dusted, leave her
If you see her, don't upset her
Never seems to get much better
Grass stains, back burns
She's just dusted, leave her
Her hmmm hmmm goes to your heart
Her hmmm hmmm sticks in your head
Hmmm hmmm hmmm hmmm huh huh
Baby's playing dead in cellar
Gave her water, just got paler
Grass stains, back burns
She's a screamer
She's just dusted, leave her
The meaning behind Belly's song "Every Word" is somewhat ambiguous and open to interpretation. However, some have suggested that the lyrics may be referencing drug use and addiction. The line "she's just dusted, leave her" may be a reference to someone who has used cocaine or other powdered substances, while the repeated references to grass stains and back burns could be suggesting the use of heroin, which is often injected into the arm and can cause visible needle marks.
The repeated line "she's a screamer" could be referencing the intense physical and emotional effects of substance abuse, including mood swings and outbursts. The lyrics suggest that the singer is trying to help someone who is struggling with addiction but is unable to make much of a difference. The repeated phrase "never seems to get much better" suggests a sense of hopelessness and futility.
Overall, the song is a haunting and evocative exploration of the complexities and difficulties of addiction.
