De Haber Sido En Madrid
Bely Basarte Lyrics

dices que qué hora es,
no esperaba visita,
pero contesté.
Cuentas en tu relato
a qué sabe mi piel
quizá no escribas tanto,
y sé, no creo, no, yo sé,
no sé qué pensar
de historias exquisitas
quiero desconfiar
quizá no escribas tanto,
y sé, no creo, no, yo sé,
y sé, no creo, no, yo sé,
In Bely Basarte's song De Haber Sido En Madrid, the lyrics tell the story of a relationship that may not have worked out due to the couple's differences. The first verse describes a moment where the singer is sitting in front of a mill, and an unexpected visitor arrives. They describe the feeling of their skin getting goosebumps as they see the lights from the Eiffel Tower, hinting that they may be in Paris. However, they acknowledge that neither of them speaks French and wonders if they may have overlooked this important detail.
The second verse talks about how the other person in the relationship believes in fate and that they were meant to be together. The singer, on the other hand, is more skeptical and wants to question these "exquisite stories." They also mention that they carry chaos within themselves and know that it will eventually come to the surface.
The chorus repeats the idea that perhaps the relationship would have worked if they were in Madrid instead. It acknowledges that even if they moved to a different place or tried to learn more about each other's preferences, it may not have made a difference.
The bridge of the song talks about the difficulty of forgetting something that never existed and how easy it was to pretend that things were different than they were.
Overall, the lyrics of De Haber Sido En Madrid seem to be about the complexities of relationships and how sometimes, despite our best efforts, things just may not work out.

Taking a sip in front of the windmill,
Drinking while standing near a windmill,
you ask me what time it is,
you inquire about the time from me,
I wasn't expecting a visit,
I didn't anticipate you coming by,
but I still answered.
yet I still responded.
You tell in your story
You narrate in your tale
what my skin tastes like
How my skin feels
when it shudders while looking at the lights from Eiffel.
When it reacts while seeing the lights of Eiffel.
Maybe we were missing the fact that neither of us speaks French
Maybe we overlooked that neither of us know French
Maybe you don't write so much,
Maybe you don't write as much,
maybe one day we move
Maybe someday we'll relocate
and still not learn how you like your coffee.
and still not discover your coffee preferences.
And I know, not believe, no, I know,
And I'm positive, not doubtful, no, I'm sure,
that this isn't our story together,
that this is not our shared tale,
maybe it might have worked if it had happened in Madrid.
Perhaps it could have succeeded if it took place in Madrid instead.
You weave fairy tales,
You fabricate fanciful stories,
you don't believe in chance
You don't trust in randomness
you swear we were written,
you insist we were predestined,
I don't know what to think
I'm unsure how to react
of such exquisite stories.
To narratives so superb.
But I carry the chaos deep inside,
But I store turbulence within me,
I know it will emerge.
I anticipate it will eventually arise.
Maybe we were missing the fact that neither of us speaks French
Perhaps we forgot neither of us speaks French
Maybe you don't write so much,
Perhaps you don't write as much,
maybe one day we move
Maybe we will move someday
and still not learn how you like your coffee.
and still not discover your coffee preferences.
And I know, not believe, no, I know,
And I'm positive, not doubtful, no, I'm sure,
that this isn't our story together,
that this is not our joint narrative,
maybe it might have worked if it had happened in Madrid.
perhaps it could have succeeded if it took place in Madrid instead.

Gracias, Bely.
