Unlike most artists of his ilk, Khan’s primary instrument is guitar, and he claims listening to “mostly old-school” artists like B.B. King, Fleetwood Mac, and, Nirvana helped him develop his bluesy chops. He then turned to hip-hop (Earl Sweatshirt, Pusha T, and Danny Brown are current favorites), making beats on an MPC after hearing J Dilla, and putting them online. (“I had a couple of friends rap on those beats," he says, “but if Wu-Tang Clan were there, they would've absolutely killed it.”)

Eden
Ben Khan Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
On a religious high
Greed consuming me
All-seeing eye
All-seeing eye
Sitting at the edge of time
Standing on the wrecker's line
Carry me by my side
Cut off your wings
Create the scene
Let's get in between
Is she here?
She's like a dream
Shiver in streams
Interpretation:
In the chorus of Ben Khan's Eden, the singer is describing a spiritual experience. He has his palms raised to the sky, possibly in a state of prayer or worship. He has become consumed by greed, possibly due to the overwhelming feeling of being in the presence of a divine force. He mentions an all-seeing eye, which can be interpreted as a symbol of God or a higher power watching over him. He then shifts to the image of sitting at the edge of time and standing on a wrecker's line, which can be interpreted as being at a precipice of life and death or an important transition. The all-seeing eye is still present, carrying him by his side, possibly guiding him through this transitional period.
In the second verse, the singer mentions cutting off wings and creating a scene. This could be interpreted as shedding one's inhibitions and embracing their true self, even if it's unconventional. The singer then asks if "she" is here, possibly referencing a significant other or a muse. He then describes this person as being like a dream, causing shivers in streams, which can be interpreted as the person having a profound impact on him emotionally.
