tus amigos
los de figuras envidiables
brillan tanto
como el sol
y como se lo que
hay adentro no
quiero verlo no
noooo
jajá despertar
y descubrir que
todo estaba hay
que va a pasar
aquí
una estampida de elefantes...
de elefantes
me gusta ver como se ríen
tus amigos
los de figuras indeseables
brillan tanto
como yo
y como se lo que hay adentro
quiero verlo no
quiero verlo no
oooooh!!!!!
jajá despertar
y descubrir que
todo estaba hay
una estampida de elefantes
de elefantes
de elefantes
de elefantes...
The song "Elefantes" by Bengala talks about the power dynamics and relationships within a social circle. The singer is observing their partner's friends and how they carry themselves, highlighting their enviable figures and how they shine as brightly as the sun. However, the singer is also aware that appearances can be deceiving and that they don't necessarily want to see what's behind the facade. They would rather keep their own perceptions of these individuals.
The chorus talks about waking up and realizing that everything that was present before is still there. This could refer to a sense of stagnation or feeling stuck in a certain space or social circle. The metaphor of an elephant stampede could symbolize the overwhelming pressure to conform to the expectations of a certain group, even if it's not what you truly want. The repetition of the word "elefantes" in the chorus and outro reinforces this idea.
The second verse talks about the singer seeing themselves in a similar light to their partner's friends, as shining and enviable. However, they are still hesitant to see what's inside, perhaps because they are also attempting to maintain a certain exterior image. The ending emphasis on "oooooh!!!" sounds almost like a frustrated sigh or a moment of clarity, perhaps indicating that the singer is starting to see through the illusion of social expectations.
