Granada
Benito Kamelas Lyrics

Me iba a ir a los Pirineos, pero me he quedado
Se piraron sin mí, y me abandonaron
Mi amigo José no me había olvidado
Y comprendí que siempre he querido vivir
Y comprendí que siempre he querido vivir
Y comprendí que siempre he querido vivir
The lyrics of Benito Kamelas's song Granada narrate the story of the singer's trip to Granada, a city in Spain, with his friend José. The singer initially had no money and was planning on going to the Pyrenees Mountains, but his friend convinced him to come to Granada with him. The singer describes the magic of the city, perhaps due to the air from the nearby Sierra Nevada mountain range or the scent of geraniums on every balcony. He talks about the desire to live in a "carmen," a traditional house with a garden in Granada, while looking at the Alhambra palace from San Nicolas Hill.
The singer and his friend explore the city, trying tapas in various bars and meeting a beautiful gypsy woman who invites them to dance at the Camborio. They roam through neighborhoods like El Albahicín and Elvira experiencing the vibrant nightlife of the city. By the end of the song, the singer realizes that he never wants to leave Granada and dreams of returning to the city someday.
The song is a tribute to the beauty and magic of Granada, a city with a rich history and culture. The lyrics celebrate the city's many sights, from the famous Alhambra palace to its vibrant bar scene. The song also speaks to the power of travel to open up new experiences and show us what we truly want in life.
