My parents’ too! We celebrated their 50th anniversary in 2004 with an incredible surprise anniversary party! They thought they were going to my brother’s surprise 30th birthday party. My dad was an Italian Tenor. He signed a brief contract with "RCA Victor" back in the 1930's. Didn;t last long, Italian Mothers too over protective back then. My dad grew up, and in 1954, married, and sang this song to his bride, my mom at their wedding!. He also sang this song the last morning he was Alive. He held her hand and looked in her eyes, told her he loved her, and sang this song with me there. I still tear up. Its been only 6 months. My dad died 6 hrs later of a massive stroke holding his wifes hand and begging me for help moments before, little could I do. He did tell us he loved us. Thanks Forever!! I have to be honest that though I know the name of Tony Bennett for a long time, this is my first time listening to his song. His style was a very old one, I am afraid this is not the song i like much but i do like the songs that i could possibly understand the lyrics.

But Mom loved that song and made the record for my Dad years before I was born. When I was about two years old, in 1959, Mom had me record a little 45 in the same place, where she, my Dad and I (just learning to talk in full sentences) said hello and a small greeting to my grandparents and uncle. That one, unfortunately, was destroyed in a basement flood in my childhood home, which really was crushing. Back in those days, tape recorders were rare and extremely expensive and there were no real ways of recording one's voice. Boy, how far we've come, right?

~My 86 yr old Dad just requested me to play this for him. We're in the ER, for him. He said as tears were coming out of his eyes, this song reminds him of his wife Carol who died from cancer in 1959. RIP Carol...💜💜💜

I am so glad I got to see him perform live. Truly the last legend of an era and a one of a kind performer lived a life of love, truly honoring his craft and his audience. He will live on forever through his art.
Some recommendations: Once upon a time, Poor Butterfly, I'm Old fashioned, Girl Talk, Manhattan
Also absolutely love his two albums with Bill Evans, and his tribute to Sinatra "Perfectly Frank"
and every album and song he has ever recorded!

I This beautiful song, "Because of you" Reminds me When my mother used to sing that song For my father When he passed away That song Remind me when both were in love And when she was 75Years old On her birthday she requests the same song "Because of you"
