Tea For Two
Benny Carter / Jimmy Mundy / Gerald Wilson Lyrics

Just tea for two
And two for tea
Just me for you
And you for me alone
Nobody near us to see us or hear us
No friends or relations
We won't have it known, dear
That we own a telephone, dear
Day will break and you'll awake
And start to bake a sugar cake
For me to take for all the boys to see
We will raise a family
A boy for you, a girl for me
Oh, can't you see how happy we would be
These lyrics are from the classic song "Tea For Two" written by Vincent Youmans with lyrics by Irving Caesar. The song is about a couple who are enjoying a romantic moment together, just drinking tea, alone and uninterrupted. They don't want anyone else to know about this special moment, especially not their friends or family or anyone who might disturb their peace and privacy. The lyrics suggest that the couple is completely content with just each other's company and that they could be happy together for a lifetime. The song also highlights the simple pleasures that can bring us happiness, such as a cup of tea and a loved one to share it with.
The line "Day will break and you'll awake, and start to bake a sugar cake, for me to take for all the boys to see" shows the traditional gender roles of the time, where the woman's job was to cook for her man and show off her skills to his friends. The ending of the song "We will raise a family, a boy for you, a girl for me, oh, can't you see how happy we would be" shows that the couple's love isn't just for the moment, but that they want to extend it into a full life together, complete with children and a home.

I’m a Christian so I’m supposed to be patient... but this is time I’ll NEVER get back. And how did she never know it was her kids? I doubt they magically walk back to their own bad before she wakes up everyday. Someone please put this video on somebody’s prayer list.
