As of January, 2020 Jelly Roll Morton's King Porter Stomp is finally in the public domain (although this Goodman recording is probably still copyright protected). It is one of several historically important songs that came out of Chicago in 1924. For more information about Chicago music read Chicago's Music Industry.

Jazz/swing music makes me just so happy

RIP BUNNY you were way way too young when you left us

@thecubanism

There has never been anything to touch the great Benny Goodman orchestra, Carnegie Hall, with Benny, Gene Krupa, Lional Hampton, etc., one of the greatest nights, if not the greatest in the history or Western music.

@jason60chev

That Carnegie Hall band did not last too long afterwards. Krupa and James left to form their own bands, Elman was gone, Hamp, Wilson.....By 1939, THAT great band was no more.

Look up Cory Wong - an absolute gem of a musician and his band is wonderful! Jazzy/funky stuff

@kenzomatic2215

this may be Goodmans first hit, but this is a Jelly Roll Morton classic and it's easy to spot his style

Greetings from the Ohio Porters.🇺🇸 I had a friend that introduced this song to me back in 1988 in college. I remember lyrics with it…is it a different version? He thought since my last name was Porter that I would like it. I did! 🥰 From back in 1935 I guess…Great stuff! 🥰😎✌️
