Blue Skies
Benny Goodman & His Orchestra featuring Art Lund Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Blue skies, smilin' at me
Nothin' but blues skies do I see

Bluebirds singin' a song
Nothin' but bluebirds all day long

Never saw the sun shining so bright
Never saw things looking so right
Noticing the days hurryin' by
When you're in love, my how they fly

Blue days, all of them gone
Nothin' but blue skies from now on

Never saw the sun shining so bright
Never saw things looking so right
Noticing the days hurryin' by
When you're in love, oh how they fly

Blue days, all of them gone
Nothin' but blue skies from now on

This tune is as old as I am now. I like to hear it and enjoy it. Very good to hear nice slow music like this.

Great song and a great version by Benny and Art. My experts tell me that the 78 rpm records have the best recorded sound. Listening to this record makes me agree.

@SheridanJazz

Wow.......so different from the 1935 Henderson arrangement. First time I've ever heard this. Great find!

Good stuff!!

The last time I saw Art Lund, he was in a1962 episode of 'Gunsmoke'. Had likely given up singing although on this recording and another one I have of a Christmas tune he certainly seems capable of holding his own with many of his contemporaries.

@CPorter

He was generally good, but don't listen to Cincinnati Ding Dong from 1952 though
