Dorémus wrote his first pieces of poetry before the age of ten. He also began to learn to play the guitar.
He spent his first years between Metz and Avignon to finally settle down in Paris at 21, after passing a cinematographic Performing Arts bachelor's degree in 2001, and finishing his first novel.
He had his first concerts in 2003 within the very close Parisian fields. His songs, mostly influenced by Eminem or the famous French singer-songwriter Renaud, very popular since the '70s, often describe his bipolarity between music and literature, Philippe Djian being his favourite author concerning the latest. The texts regularly deal with a recurring character called "Benito" or "Adesias Benito", a hardly hidden allegory for himself.
His first album, Pas en parler (french for "[I'd rather] Not talk about it"), came to be known by the professionals, and among them, Renaud in 2005, thanks to the singer Sarclo, who introduced him to him. Renaud enjoyed it and decided to produce it (label EMI).[citation needed] He also did a personal cover of Rien à te mettre (french for Nothing to wear) in his 2006 album Rouge sang.
In October 2007, his last album Jeunesse se passe (french for The Youth is passing by, label Ceci-Celà, EMI Group) receives good critics, especially from the daily newspaper Libération.

The lyrics of Benoît Dorémus's song "Bilan carbone" tackle the theme of human impact on the environment. The song expresses the artist's concerns about his own carbon footprint and the negative consequences of human activities such as wasting energy and natural resources. The lyrics are filled with powerful imagery that conveys the gravity of the situation.
The opening lines of the song depict the artist's guilt when he takes more than 10 minutes to shower, as he thinks about the polar bear that he is indirectly harming through his actions. He also feels responsible for the melting of icebergs when he is stuck in traffic. The artist realizes that even his smallest actions have far-reaching consequences on the environment, and he struggles to find a place where his presence would be neutral.
The song then goes on to describe the artist's feelings of helplessness and guilt, as he contemplates his impact on the environment. Even when he tries to reduce his carbon footprint, he finds it difficult to do so, as his lifestyle choices not only affect himself but others. The lyrics suggest that we are all responsible for the state of the environment, and we need to take our actions seriously, regarding the present and the future.
