After 2 albums of underground transgressive rock, the band started mixing it with Latin American rhythms such a cumbia, chacarera, candombe and cuartetazo. The lyrics, though, remained acid and critical of political and social problems.
The current line-up is: Gustavo Cordera (voice), Juan Subirá (keyboards and voice), Carlos Martín (drums), Oscar Righi (guitar), "Pepe" Céspedes (bass guitar and voice), Daniel Suárez (voice), Alberto Verenzuela (guitar), and "Cóndor" Sbarbatti (voice and charango); previous members include Charly Bianco (guitar and voice) and Rubén Sadrinas (voice).
Honoring the psychiatric hospital José Tiburcio Borda in Buenos Aires, La Bersuit performs dressed in characteristic pajamas; even though the story of Cordera spending some time in that institution is a mere urban legend, the band has an affinity with everything related to madness and marginalization.
Besides the big success, first in the Buenos Aires' underground movement and then in all the country, Bersuit Vergarabat harvested fans from many countries in South America as well as in Spain.

Y no bajaste mas ni a la vereda;
Nuestras pasiones cansadas
Entristecen a esta era que acaba...
Sola en tu guarida
Sos el secreto de una ciudad perdida;
Quiero cantarte para no olvidarte
Un dia y por siempre.
Sacudiera tus pupilas
Con una procesin de ciegos
Que trafican luces sin brillo
Si tus faroles no arden
Por lo menos dame de tu carne;
En mi cancin te has perdido,
No encontrarte trajo mala suerte
Y pregunto
Que pas? ... Me pregunto,
Que pas? ... Me pregunto,
Que pas? ... Me pregunto,
Que pas? ... Me pregunto,
Se apaga el cielo, esta descolorido
Y no lo ves de mirar hacia el frente;
El hambre cielgo mordi tu sol
El mar por miedo perdi su quejido eterno.
Maldita espera!
Es el mejor tiempo perdido,
Te apagas, me apague o me apagas,
O qu haces, o qu hago.
Que pas? ... Me pregunto,
Que pas? ... Me pregunto,
Que pas? ... Me pregunto,
Que pas? ... Me pregunto,
Oh, Oh, Oh, como yo vivo Uooo
Oh, Oh, Oh, y esta maldita espera...
No me digas eso!
The lyrics to Bersuit Vergarabat's "¿Qué Pasó?" describe a sense of disorientation and confusion in the face of societal changes and personal struggles. The first stanza speaks of feeling forced into isolation and withdrawal from the world, with "passions" that were once strong now weakened and melancholy. The second stanza imagines a scenario in which a "great caravan" of people might come and shake things up, but ultimately the singer is left alone with the memory of the person they are singing to, unable to forget them even though they are gone.
Throughout the song, there is a haunting sense of absence and longing, which is only compounded by lines like "the sky is darkened, it loses its color" and "the hunger blinded your sun". It paints a picture of a world that is falling apart, and a person who is struggling to hold on to what they know and love in the midst of that chaos.
Overall, "¿Qué Pasó?" is a powerful reflection on the ways in which we cope with crisis and loss. It speaks to the universal human experience of feeling adrift and uncertain, while also hinting at the potential for hope and renewal in the face of adversity.

Te torcieron el brazo
Someone twisted your arm and you never went down to the sidewalk again
Y no bajaste mas ni a la vereda;
And you never went down to the sidewalk again;
Nuestras pasiones cansadas
Our tired passions
Entristecen a esta era que acaba...
Sadness pervades this era that is ending...
Sola en tu guarida
Alone in your hideout
Sos el secreto de una ciudad perdida;
You are the secret of a lost city;
Quiero cantarte para no olvidarte
I want to sing to you so I don't forget you
Un dia y por siempre.
One day and forever.
Si una gran caravana
If a great caravan
Sacudiera tus pupilas
Shook your pupils
Con una procesin de ciegos
With a procession of blind people
Que trafican luces sin brillo
Who traffic in dull lights
Si tus faroles no arden
If your lanterns don't burn
Por lo menos dame de tu carne;
At least give me your flesh;
En mi cancin te has perdido,
You have been lost in my song,
No encontrarte trajo mala suerte
Not finding you brought bad luck
Y pregunto
And I ask
Que pas? ... Me pregunto,
What happened? ... I wonder,
Se apaga el cielo, esta descolorido
The sky is fading, it's colorless
Y no lo ves de mirar hacia el frente;
And you don't see it by looking ahead;
El hambre cielgo mordi tu sol
Hunger is blinding, biting your sun
El mar por miedo perdi su quejido eterno.
The sea, out of fear, lost its eternal lament.
Maldita espera!
Damn wait!
Es el mejor tiempo perdido,
It's the best time wasted,
Te apagas, me apague o me apagas,
You turn off, I turn off or you turn me off,
O qu haces, o qu hago.
Or what do you do, or what do I do.
Que pas? ... Me pregunto,
What happened? ... I wonder,
Oh, Oh, Oh, como yo vivo Uooo
Oh, Oh, Oh, how I live Uooo
Oh, Oh, Oh, y esta maldita espera...
Oh, Oh, Oh, and this damn wait...
No me digas eso!
Don't tell me that!
